No, this is wrong. All non-playoff teams, regardless of records, have priority over playoff teams in the draft order. We'd be drafting at 21 if we made the playoffs.

Would anyone be afraid of Detroit coming here for a playoff game? Beat Detroit, go to Arizona. We could be the loser team beating the home team with a way better record like they did to us in '08. Make the NFC Championship Game and see how things shape out.

Think back to the San Fran playoff game in January. Yes, that ended badly, but you can't take away the fun and excitement that is tailgating before a home playoff game. We've had all of 3 so far in team history. And especially if it was against DETROIT? Detroit fans don't take over stadiums and why would this team fear Detroit?

 

If Richardson were to give Rivera another go because he made the playoffs at 5-10-1, that stupidity would be on Jerry Richardson. If Marty Schottenheimer can get fired after a 14-2 season, the worst coach in football sure as hell can still get fired after a 5-10-1 season. Making the playoffs would be through sheer luck of being in the worst division in NFL history.

Actually, here's a very real reason why you should want us to miss the playoffs if we do go 5-10-1 or 6-9-1. The team with the worst record that loses in the wild card round picks at #21 overall in the draft. At our current position, we're sitting at #8 overall. If we were to win the division at 5-10-1, that would probably have us normally at #10 overall because it would mean the Falcons and Saints would have worse records than us. So for the arbitrary reasoning of winning the division, we would automatically drop from #10 overall to #21. THAT would suck.

It's reasonable assume the Falcons only win one more game.  They have given games away all year and tried their best to do it last week.  Unfortunately for them they ran into the most prolific give-the-game-away coach in NFL history.  I don't think it's reasonable to assume the Saints only win one more.  I think they get to at least 7 wins.

I am starting to get sold on the troll level against espn and the big market teams. Their tears would be tasty. That being said only if DG still fires the Ron.
