I don't want to hear about bringing in slow WR castoffs when we run nothing but long developing routes. This is what happens to a coaching staff and FO when things aren't going well. They think they can add to their work load by bringing in every castoff on Earth and work away the problem. The season was lost over the offseason, and now we can't fix the problem until the next offseason.

They typically treat the bye week like a bunch of Tuesdays and work people out all week. Not much else for Gettleman and the pro scouts to do.

Avant delivered absolutely nothing on the field.  Letting him walk was a nonissue to gameday.
