Jeff Taylor receives 24 game suspension

why can't the nfl be this good? Rice should have got 6 games off the bat and no one would have said poo.

Seriously. Then again Silver had a front row seat to "what not to do" and his memo covered all the bases.

He explains the different committees the NBA has to handle these cases, the experts that were consulted, and of course his own morality. It's all very well thought out and thorough.

He even got the punishment assessment right, counting the games already served while making sure the league gets their 24 game checks.

No doubt the league is in great hands right now.

If the Rice incident never happened Taylor would've been suspended the first 3 or 5 games and nobody would've blinked an eye. It would've been briefly mentioned on ESPN once or twice but that's it. Since it did happen, Taylor was suspended nearly a 1/3 of the season and it's a headline on ESPN.

Don't act like Silver and the NBA are moral saints or geniuses. It's like your friend failing a test then giving you the answer sheet. Would've been pretty hard for them to screw this up.

The NBA PA is prepared to appeal this suspension on Jeff's behalf.

Edit: didn't realize the ability to embed tweets had disappeared. This is per Marc Stein:

NBA Players Association's Michele Roberts blasts 24-game ban meted out to Charlotte's Jeffrey Taylor and says union "stands ready" to appeal

NBA Players Association, though, is leaving ultimate decision on whether to appeal through an independent arbitrator to Taylor and his reps
