Kony Ealy

he seems to play the run extremely well. i remember everyone freaking out when hardy effectively supplanted brayton because the former sucked at sealing the edge and stopping runs off tackle, while the latter excelled at containment. ealy doesn't seem to have this problem at all.

kony ealy is no greg hardy, but with an offseason of conditioning he should do well enough considering our cap situation and (hopefully) a transition from pinning the hopes of the entire season on the defensive line getting enough pressure to make up for an atrocious secondary and offense and win games 10-7.

lol "excellent" from 2002-2009? you sure about that?

you know that timeframe includes trading back into the first to draft jeff otah and sending a first round pick off for everette brown right? and the delhomme extension? and the peppers fiasco?

all of you who dogpile on dave gettleman for not drafting a starter in literally every round of every draft should take a hard look at some hurneymagic:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Panthers_draft_history

most of his drafts are seriously like one solid/perhaps even elite player + a bunch of crap that's not even good enough to stay on the team as depth. if gettleman drafts like that for the next decade then yes by all means fire his ass.

I meant from 2002 to 2008. And yes, I mean it. There's a reason we never finished worse than 7-9 in that span.

2008 is where Hurney started to go nuts and make bad choices, but we still got Cam and Luke. That's on Hurney.

7-9 is a losing record. How many years did we go to the playoffs? Superbowl?

Because Kelvin was the highest rated player on our board and the results have speak for themselves.

Teams that draft solely on need are teams that are drafting at the top year after year....

Right because we had our draft board prioritize by needs. I'm not saying you draft only based on need, but it should definitely be a factor.'

Of course it is. Is it as bad as 6-10, 5-11, 4-12, 3-13 seasons that everyone else in the NFC South had? No.

And we went to the playoffs 3 times in 9 years. That seems bad, until you realize that 2002 was a rebound off a 1-15 season and 2004 and 2007 were injury plagued nightmares. 2006 and 2009 are the only years I would say were genuinely bad and even then we only finished 7-9 at worst.

A losing season is a losing season. And this team has never had back to back winning seasons.

I recall Ealy was definitely in the mix when all the fighting broke out against the Falcons; I'll go back and check the DVR but I remember #94 was raging. He's all good in my book.

You need new books bro, just because he was involved in a lame team fight, doesn't make him a good player
