Jason Avant Cut

I'm not as upset about Avant getting cut as much as staff is not being held to same standard as the players are.

No accountability for the coaching staff. They just cut someone new every week because they think they are doing it right but players are failing them.

To a degree they are right, but at some point you have to think "maybe it is us"

None of this BS surprises me. This coaching staff is looking for anything to save face and to say this mess is not their fault. Rivera and his staff should've been let go 2 years ago. They cut Jason freaking Avant because he spoke out about the horrible play calling and game management and he is

I reallyhope there is a locker room upheavel,maybe it will bring toa  head that Rivera and Shula are not true NFL caliber coaches. 

 

Jason Avant was cut because he said the same thing all of us said,or were thinking. Avant said nothing that wasn't true but still got a ticket out of town,futher proof this team will throw you under the bus if you question their obvious inept style of coaching.

 

In my opinion, the two main ones that needed released would be Shula and Rivera for their stumbling,bumbling play calling.Those two seemed joined at the hip and need to leave Charlotte on the next flight out.

Having said that, this was NOT a football decision. This was the FO cutting a player for being pissed about a player blasting the coaching staff, mainly our two most despised coaches in Rivera and Shula.

First off, good on Avant for speaking the truth! Secondly, we are obviously FUGGED with this coaching staff. Doesn't look like anyone goes until Rivera does. This moves shows that Rivera backs Shula, which is absolutely horrifying!

We'll be lucky to be contenders in the next 3 years imo. I can't wait to read the thread in its entirety.

Avant was a waste of a roster spot. Now, Shula will be forced to include Philly into more plays.

Telling you guys, this speaks more about Dave's opinion of Shula more so than Avant. Just Avant wasn't producing and running his mouth. Avant made the decision easy! Hell, he got paid irregardless

 

Shula won't be forced to do anything because Shula doesn't call plays depending on the roster. He calls the same plays regardless of situation, opponent, WRs, o-line, or any other circumstance with no adjustment whatsoever.

Philly got reps early on. Avant is a vested player so he is getting paid regardless. Nor did he ever have a big role to begin with.

Philly future opportinies clearly isn't a reason to now cut Avant

Cary Williams spoke out about the eagles practice routine earlier this year. Ahmad Brooks took himself out of the game Sunday because he was mad about losing playing time to Aldon Smith. Both are still on their teams. The difference? They have real coaches who are leaders and not a pussy like Ron.

 

This is weakness, and I think Ron is paranoid. The difference is, aside from your point, that Brooks did not go to the press and criticize the coach.  Rivera showed how tenuous his job security is when he didn't handle this another way.   I might have pulled him into my office, fined him, maybe suspended him for a game--but to cut him is a desperate move.
