Its a positive move, because we might as well find out what we have and bring up other younger players. 

 

Cutting a high character guy in the wake of criticism is rarely a positive for a coach in trouble.

 

For an established coach, maybe.  For a guy who's struggling, it looks insecure, thin skinned and petty.

RR definitely needs to go. Be don't we all agree it's not going to happen during the season? Players can get cut now so younger players can get reps and improve. We're not bringing in a coach at the end of the season to give him a tryout.

Not producing, not getting open, and speaking out about the coaches is a pretty bad combination.

Well by definition, 200 yards and 1 touchdown is not exactly the definition of nothing. So there's that. Also, the bolded text there is not at all what I said. "He was a very well liked guy as well from what I understand" is simply pointing out an observation. Can we move on now?

 

I'm not sure why you are getting hung up on this. The fact of the matter is our staff is pissing the season away, and if we're going to start cutting players and making them scapegoats, we should probably start with someone else. Particularly the tackling dummies on our OL.

Coaches don't cut players. GMs do. cutting avant after questioning the coaching staff is a big sign of support to the staff.

 

GMs take the coach's recommendation in consideration when making cuts...or not addressing obvious OL problems that the coach continues to swear don't exist.

We may agree with what he says but to me he has to be more professional and keep it to the player-coaches meetings. Especially with his figures!

Overall though, with this and the CJ issue I thinks there's definitely a locker room unhappy with RR.

And believe me, that first R doesn't stand for Riverboat.

Agreed....I think DG is about to clean house, RR included. I like making these moves in the middle of a poo season. One thing DG has proven time and time again is that he is cold blooded when it comes to making decisions he thinks is best for the team.

We are out of the playoffs, the locker room is divided, if not totally lost, this season is pretty much gone now.

 

 

Avant, is a solid 3 or 4 WR, and I liked the signing, when I thought that we had a shot at the playoffs and possibly winning a playoff game.  However, that's not the case any longer.

 

Every player on the roster, outside of Cam, Luke, TD, Starr, KK, and KB, are being interviewed for next season, DG is just getting the jump on the offseason.

 

 

You have a bad attitude that I fear could seep over onto KB and Philly.....you are out of my locker room, plain and simple.

However, they're worse performers on the team than Avant (regarding your other point/s).

 

It's clear Avant was jettisoned due to his comments.

 

And if so: That's speaks to a bigger issue regarding this team, it's coaching staff and management.

 

You think it's good KB learns from a Head coach who thinks giving up and settling is better than having a winning attitude? That's what Avant was speaking about.

Agreed they could have benched him, but what would that have achieved?  Rather cut a guy not performing and bring up a young guy to evaluate.  This season is done....might as well take a look at some of your younger guys.

 

And YES....Harper should have his ass shown to the door.

 

Well for one, you could actually use him in a way that suits his skill set.

 

Avant was a possession receiver.  Why was he being sent on deep routes?

He didn't deserve to get cut because he spoke his mind on play calling they make up a excuse for philly to get more time truth is if they wanted to give philly more time avant could have watched from the bench and provided coaching to young philly!

Yeah I know that.  When a crappy coaching staff chooses one player to the active roster over another, he'll get looks in the regular season.  That's the given and I still don't get what you're trying to say.   

 

Well I'll make it clear.

 

Out of all the problems with our team right now, I think the last concern should be why we kept a guy who has actually contributed this season with first down catches, and several receptions, one for a touchdown, over a guy with zero career numbers on a practice squad.
