Jason Avant Cut

I dont understand how this means the coaching staff wont be questioned, if they are losing the locker room

And cutting team guys like avant then it obviously shows leadership problems. Gettleman staying silent through all of this is what makes this hard to read.

Coaches don't cut players. GMs do. cutting avant after questioning the coaching staff is a big sign of support to the staff.

Fwiw, I think its a good move. Even if the season is indeed over, we can find out what we have in PB for next year. If he turns out to be a solid NFL receiver, then we don't need to spend much on the receiver group next year. The next coaching staff will have some game film on him at least.

Philly is not meant to be a #2... He's a good player, but he's not built to line up on the outside every play, imo. We are going to have to address the entire WR corps again this offseason anyway outside of Kb and Philly.

Neither was Steve Smith, but how did that work out?

It wasn't Gettleman's clock management that he criticized.

I will never forget that game against the Saints in 2011 when Rivera called a timeout with the clock running down at the end of the half allowing the Saints to kick a field goal because the special teams unit "wasn't lined up right and might have been penalized".

I am not so sure that he can't be a 2, or 1a if you will.  But at this point, he would not our number 2, Cotchery would.     However,  if Brown and Benjamin prove to be good receivers, receiver drops down on the needs list.  It doesn't disappear from the list, just moves down a bit.  And thats a good thing.
