Do we control our own destiny?

Rivera is a moron. They control nothing. I would think at this point people wouldn't be even considering what he says.

No "fan" should want to finish 7-8-1 just to MAYBE sneak into the playoffs and DEFINITELY blow a top draft pick.

The odds of the Panthers winning a Super Bowl like the Giants did twice by getting hot at the right time and sneaking in are much lower than them drafting high at this point.

The players will try to win out because they have pride. I would, but I'm not a player. The #1 LT in the draft is more important to the Panthers long-term success than definitely not winning a championship even if you sneak in just so a "fan" can feel good until they realize how low they're drafting with nothing to show for it.

If they get in, they better win the Super Bowl, otherwise losing out on another game changer is all they'll have to show for it.

We don't control our destiny, but with the way the other teams are playing and their upcoming schedule, there is a VERY high chance if we finish 5-0, we're in.  Heck, schedule wise, I think we'll control our own destiny after monday night.  The Falcons are playing the Browns who are a better team, and Baltimore is playing New Orleans and they're coming off a bye and John Harbaugh has only lost 1 game after bye since he's been a head coach.  I don't see a way the Falcons squeeze out more than 2-3 more wins with their utterly brutal schedule.  The division is still between us and the saints, we would have had a step on the saints had we not bricked the bed like a scared toddler.

Looking back now, holy crap, all the teams we lost to are either from the god-like AFC North or leading their division. I don't know if we'd be all that better fielding last years team on this schedule. I mean, I definitely lay the appropriate blame on the players and the coaching, but it was a bad year to be "rebuilding".
