being an OC on gameday is hard.

40 seconds to get down and distance, decide play, get in substitutions, relay play to the QB, have them line up in time to get blocking assignments/adjustments/audibles, and execute play.

That is why I love it when fans are like "Gawd!! That guy is an idiot!!"  And "Why don't they get to LOS faster!!  Gawd!!!

BUT that is what they get paid to do, and some are better than others

It's a lot like chess.

Amateurs just look at the board and say "What do I do now?"

Grand Masters have already plotted several moves ahead even before they've made their current move.

We don't have a 'Grand Master' in charge right now.

Being an OC might be hard, but it doesn't mean we should settle for an incompetent one be it Shula, or whoever.  As hard as it is to believe, there are actual real live good offensive minds out there.

We had one for a bit named Chud.  Just too bad he said "fug the team" the first half of 2012 and went trick play/read option crazy in his audition for a head coaching gig.  The 2011 praise got to his head, and he wanted to show he had a lot more in his "bag of tricks" whether they actually worked or not.

Not saying I want Chud back (2011 Chud sure), but Shula has got to go.
