They need to go young and quickly.

 

If they can find a trading partner and draft picks for Johnson, they need to do it, at least a 2nd round, just do it.

 

The Panthers can live with one poor tackle but not two.  They have to come out of this draft with a start immediately left tackle.  If they can get a right tackle great.  Amari Cooper with speed on the outside would be great in the first and a LT in the second but LTs don't last that long.

 

The reality is they are rebuilding and the only place they can go for cheap talent for a couple of years is the draft and the other serviceable bodies from

cheap free agents; therefore anybody they can get something for from a team that is close to a playoff and needs that body, do it.  Johnson would

look good to a lot of teams.

Someone educate me. If Hardy is not resigned here what level supplemental draft pick could we get? Would that be an extra 3rd?

What comp picks are based on is a mystery, but the prevailing theory I've heard is that it's based on contract and playing time (with the new team of course).  And a team's losses are weighed against their signings, so if we just lost Hardy but signed a collection of players to equivalent sum total contract and playing time and all, they would cancel out and we'd get nothing.  So with that in mind, we'd likely get a 3rd for him.
