trade Big Al?

Imo this should become a possibility. Discuss

No.  Reduce Big Al's role.  If anything we need to trade for another big man to help broaden our offensive game plan.  Not by trading Big AL, but by trading Neal and/or Henderson.

We need to become less reliant on Big Al in general.

Too early in the year. We are having injury problems and even though some players haven't missed any games like Lance and Marvin, it still can hurt us. I do believe that we need a PF or SF that can shoot outside. We basically have 3 offensive starters who can't shoot well from outside which is what many are saying is our weakness.

Pretty much how I feel also. I will say this, if Al doesn't start showing some intensity on the boards or defensively, I want him gone if we can get a good trade. He looks like he doesn't give a poo out there on the court.

Yup.  I love Al.  Great leader, great guy in the community, great player but he's just not helping us much right now.  I know it's not his game, but he never hustles for loose balls and he's been absolute garbage rebounding the ball this year.  Teams seem to be so much more well prepared for Al this year, and our offense looks dead at times when he's out there.  We either dump the ball to him which could set up an easy double team or he'll kick it out last second and we'll brick a contested jumper.  Our ball movement looks terrible.

People shouldn't be knocking this right now.  If things don't improve quickly this could become a serious possibility.

I said at the end of last season i didnt have a good feeling about relying on Al to carry this team. He is a big part of the turnaround but i felt like some people were taking it overboard of his impact. He is getting up there in age, and his low post game is the only real threat, he doesnt have the athleticism to contribute anywhere else. We need more from other players.

Man it's tough to let him go because you have to like a lot about his game and you have to respect what he's down to revitalize the team. I'd like to keep him and maybe have him coming off the bench next year. He finishes damn near everything in the paint but his rebounding and defensive intensity needs to get back to the level it was at last year and when he was in Dallas.

With the numbers he has put up and accolades he has garnered here his next contract will be decidedly higher than that of a bench player.

He was never in Dallas. Boston to Minnesota to Utah to Charlotte.

You know what. I'll bite on this topic. If we're giving him up we HAVE TO get back rim protection. We lack both of those. DeAndre Jordan would perhaps be available for the right price, but I doubt The Clippers are interested in Jefferson. I really don't see a trade partner out there that would give us anything for Al. I like his fit with OKC as they have Ibaka, but again, what do they have to give us?

    • Agreed on the last part. They can’t afford to lose all these games with Martin and Perets.
    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
