Cam is already overpaid by 21 million, one winning season, one playoff loss and mediocre play, he is MAYBE worth vet minimum and even then im not so sure hes even worth the roster spot. Why cant you guys see he is clearly a sub par QB on pretty much every level, what a complete and utter disaster if we pay Cam a hundred million, you think D Will and Stew contracts set this franchise back?! How could you even let your brain process some stuff like this? This makes absolutely no sense. You don't let franchise QB's walk no matter what. Do you even know how hard it is to find QB's out there. It's not like they grow on trees and you can pick anyone and poof you have a pro bowl QB. Our problem with this team is that we haven't giving Cam the right weapons as well as the protection to keep Cam up. Not only he doesn't have weapons and protection but he doesn't have coaching either which is hurting him the most. You get Cam a legit offensive minded coach and a good OC that knows how to develop QB's you're looking at a Super Bowl winning QB.

Well, for starters Cam is under contract for 2015 so he will not be a FA in March 2015.

$100,000,000 plus contracts should only go to QB's who have consistently proven their ability and success on the field. Unfortunately, as much as I hate it. CAM is still operating under "potential"... In his 4th year we are still waiting on cam to become the player, the leader, the franchise QB we want him to be. You can not pay a guy $100,000,000 on potential, on the promise that he will become an elite QB.

I don't even know what to say if you don't even think Cam is worth vet minimum. Cams easily a top 10 QB with better coaching staff that can utilize his talents better. He is a franchise QB and they get paid well in todays NFL because they are hard to find.

Really if you could just prop up a warm body at qb and 'surround him with weapons' and win consistently don't you think more teams would do it instead of going through the crap shoot that is trying to get a big time blue chip player at that position?

Most GMs would probably like that over the way things are. Renting billy volek for a few years or starting some mid round rookie sure would be cheaper and less messy.

This was very true back in the Hurney days. I remember the 49ers were super pissed after we signed DWill to his retarded contract because they were in the middle of trying to resign Gore and it jacked his asking price way up. Hell, we gave CJ $20-30 million more than the next team bidding on him could even afford. There wasn't even a negotiation, Hurney just plopped down that massive deal and CJ signed it immediately. Reportedly, "wow" was CJ's and his agents response seeing the money they offered.

Cam will walk, IMO, but not because we won't try to keep him. He will want out. And if you think he's the garbage you describe, you just wait. When we get a middling QB as his replacement, you'll be crying for him. As will I.

2012 season.. Cam had a "offensive guru" in Chud, had a good O line and Smitty was still here, he still didnt play well, cam's problems you cant fix. Why some on here are in complete denial is beyond me. Cam is just a bad QB.
