Sideline Passes/Lack of Check down

Something I've always noticed with Shula is that he calls for a lot of out patterns towards the sidelines. His favorites being the 15 and 20 yard outs....when we only need 6-7 yards for a first down.

This type of pass leaves Cam very little margin for error. It takes almost a perfect pass to complete and gives the receiver no room to make any type of YAC. The windows are so small to fit the ball into. And most of the time it sails on Cam.

I feel like Cam's best passes come when we attack the seams. There's a lot more space and bigger windows to work with.

Another thing that drives me nuts is we never have plays with a built in check down to a RB. There's no safety valve to bail the offense out in case the vertical routes are covered. This is basic stuff that Shula/Rivera can't figure out.

Also that window is for the Tampa two coverage, meaning cam see the coverage as Tampa two and that's the window between the cb and safeties.
