With everything that's gone on this season, Panthers still control their destiny?

Yep, you heard that right, panthers can still win the division, with a little help we could still win with another loss... That's how good of a position we're in.

And it's all because we tied with the Bengals.

We still have to play the Saint and Falcons in their houses, and the saints and falcons still have to go for round two themselves.

Now do I think we can pull this off and make the playoffs? Hell no. Honestly I doubt I'll watch another game for the rest of the year after what happened yesterday.

I guess you could say at this point I am finding humor in this disaster from the NFCS.

Yeah me and my boss were doing the math in our office a few minutes agoo

If we win out.. 8-7-1  and the best NO and ATL could do is 9-7 and 8-8 respectively... So winning out means we just need winner of the NO/ATL game to take another loss somewhere. and BAM NFCS Champs and Playoffs..

Now will that happen... nope. But those of us Dreamers like to dream.

We don't though

if we win out, Falcons and saints will have 1 more loss, + 1/2 credit for the tie means we will win the division because of that. If we win out, we win, with the plus 1 loss comes from the fact the Falcons are actually going into the meat of their schedule now... And the saints have the Ravens this week and the steelers next.

Everything is actually in our favor if we get our poo together after the bye

Why the fug would anyone want the Panthers do go to the playoffs? They'd get blown the fug out AND Rivera would be back.

I always feel I should root for my team to win but in looking at the bigger picture I feel there will be more wins in the future with less wins now.

If we win out and NO loses only to us and ATL loses to us and NO here is what I have for standings:

NO   9 7      0.563
CAR 8 7 1   0.531
ATL  8 8      0.500

However if NO and ATL both lose next week then we do control our own destiny...win out and it would be:

CAR 8 7 1 0.531
NO   8 8     0.500
ATL  7 9    0.438

Idc losing is more Beneficial at this point

I was for losing to get Cam/Luck and for losing to get Star even though we got him at 14 anyway. If your coach is a lame duck AND you're mathematically eliminated, then lose away. But the playoff experience is worth the 10 slots and GMan owns the draft.

And I am a broken record on this but the 7-9 Seahawks said their playoff win gave them the mojo to win it all a few years later.

Not to mention bragging rights, first time back to back winners, etc.

Losing is NOT more beneficial.

Anything can and often does happen. The Lions who we beat may be a top 2 seed and the Cardinals are decimated with injuries with a backup at QB. After beating the circus Cowboys here in the playoffs as we always do that may be the path. We may even get a rematch vs the 49ers HERE in the NFCCG!!! You never know.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
