So what do we do if Jake never snaps out of it? Turn to McCown? He hasn't shown me anything. Turn to Moore? He has shown flashes that he can be a good QB one day, just don't think it's right now. However, I would rather give him a shot just for experience. To be honest, I never had high hopes for this season any way solely because of who our QB is.

I don't know for sure, but I do know that somebody that can put the ball where it needs to be, would be a step in the right direction.

No matter who it is. :cheers2:

There can be several theories to this:

1. Like some have speculated, the Arizona game is still in his head and is hindering his usual, "go get 'em" style. In that case, it's going to take him making some big plays in preseason and/or winning a regular season game.

2. Someone mentioned age. Not sure on that one considering since he has been around a while, it's not like he's been a starter in the league all that time.

3. The new things he's learning from Rip is throwing him off-kilter.

4. It's the "bad Jake" that tends to show up but it's in preseason this time. I saw this version firsthand when watching the Raiders game last season. He had the same overly serious and pouty mood and wonky performances that day as well. Fortunately, this is only a temporary condition.

5. Jake is still adjusting to his receivers that he's working with.

6. There's something physically wrong with him that we don't know about.

People can say what they want, but one of the biggest problems....IMHO, is Jake is used to throwing to Steve, who bails him out time after time no matter how bad a throw.

High, low, late, Steve will get it most of the time. We all know this, but don't wanna accept it. I did a longgggg time ago.

Truth hurts.

I really don't get comments like this...you didn't have high hopes because of who our QB is??? Jake has been a QB that has taken us to a Super Bowl, 2 NFC Championships, and to a 12-4 season. Why would the fact that he is our QB make you not have high hopes for the season? Please explain that to me.

As I mentioned before I think his confidence is a little shakey right now and he needs to get over it. Once he gets going and starts connecting with the receivers he will be fine, I'm excited to see if he can rebound on Saturday.

Careful, you'll have people point out the 2004 season despite the fact that Moose had to adjust and make acrobatic catches almost all the time and was in a contract year.

First of all I don't get why people bring up the Super Bowl. That was 6 damn seasons ago! And it was 4 years since we went to the NFC Championship Game. A year in which Jake did nothing but lock on to Smith the whole time. I don't have high hopes this season because Jake had his worst year last year. He finished the WHOLE year with more interceptions than touchdowns. He was bad for almost half the year last year. He flat out sucked against the worst team in football. He laid a brick against the Vikings. He played bad in the first Falcons game. He played bad in both of our games against the Bucs last year. Then picked the worst time ever to have the worst game of his career. So yeah there is a reason why alot of people don't have much faith in Delhomme.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this.

When the players were coming out at the beginning of practice, Mike Goodson was walking with Nate Salley.

BTW, Goodson didnt practice and had a slight limp.

But I yelled out Mike!. and he turned and I gave him the throat slashing jester.

Nate Salley shoved him and they were both laughing. then Mike said, "haha, I cant do that no more!"

It's not about the AZ game, and please stop using that as an excuse. That was just one of 4 terrible games Jake played just last year (MIN, TB1, OAK and AZ for those who missed my earlier post about it). He's just not a consistently good QB. He'll play a good game, then he'll play a crappy game, then he'll play a mediocre game. He's been that way his entire career and just not consistent enough to take us there. Yes he played great in the super bowl, but that game is long gone. Everyone talks about his needing to put the AZ game in the past...you need to put the super bowl in the past. It's over, and it's not coming back. He's a mediocre QB who shows flashes of brilliance. Stop looking at the pretty lights and see the big picture. I shudder every time he goes back to throw. It's as likely to be a TD as an INT. Given how conservative Fox is, I can't understand why he keeps trotting out a QB who is a roll of the dice every time he throws the ball. We have great skill players on O...imagine how good this team would be with Drew Brees at QB, who we could have had.
