Pep Hamilton

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Do you know any coaches that Gettleman has any ties with? I like the idea of Pep Hamilton coming here and being a HC. I think Cam would like the idea as well because he can finally get back to the basics and fix Cam pocket mechanics. It doesn't matter who we bring in if Rivera gets let go it's a must that they have to be on board to work with Cam because he is the franchise QB. The best thing for Cam and his development is to bring someone in here like Pep. I also wouldn't mind David Shaw out of Stanford but that will be tough to get him from Stanford. I wanted Harbaugh back in 2010 and they all have connections with each other. I see Harbaugh heading to Michigan once that job opens up or maybe even Oakland

Oddly enough, I didn't see this post until after I finished my thread on that topic

Are you kidding me???

Peyton is the OC in Denver.

Luck is the OC in Indy.

Gase and Pep are products of those guys.

You have decided to ignore my main point. It's not that luck sucks. It's the lack of talent that we have. He would not succeed here with this lack of talent and joke of a coaching staff. Deep inside, you know it's true. Luck is very good but I would like to see him have the same success here in these circumstances.

Indy's OL is pretty bad. I don't know why Carolina's fans just want to ignore that. Also, Luck has no running game to balance the offense. Defenses go into knowing Luck will air it out.

Olsen is 2x better than both Fleener and Allen too. There's a lot of weapons for Luck to throw too but Luck is the kind of Qb that is going to be good no matter who his OC and receivers are.

The problem here is Cam is a game manager. He put up huge stats his rookie year due to Chud: big plays downfield. Guys like Luck, Manning, Brady, and Rodgers settle for these quick short throws that turns into large gain, or just basically moving the chain; settling for another day. Cam is always looking for the big throw when he could just dump it off for 3-5 yards. Sometimes it go his way, most time it's an incompletion or INT.

...where he also played quarterback.

His junior season would have been 1995, the first year of the Panthers existence, and his senior year they went to the NFC Championship.

As a high school kid in Charlotte when the Panthers were just getting started, you have to imagine he'd have been a fan.

yeah i would think so. he has extensive time working with QBs as well, which would do wonders for Cam and the offense as well. game planning and adjusting is something he is good as well.

love this quote from Pep.

"It's whatever we have to do from week to week to effectively move the football," he said. "You look at the way we played against the Broncos, we were primarily in (three-wide receiver sets) and we were able to move the ball with an up-tempo offense. Then we had a situation like we had on Monday night (against) Philly where we were able to run the ball successfully and our backs were getting downhill, finding holes and our offensive line did a great job of coming off the ball. We wanted to establish the run going into that game and we were able to do it, so we continued to do it throughout the game."

another quote from back up QB Matt Hasselbeck on Pep

With Pep, you just never know what you're going to get," backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said. "Our opponent this week will watch our two (previous) games (and) they don't know who they're going to see. They'll know once the game starts. But until then, they're guessing.

Tired of upstarts for head coach. JR felt so burned by Siefert he never looked at an experienced HC again. This team lacks leadership and that starts with the HC. I was hoping Ron would trend upward but just the opposite this season

Honestly I think Ron will be here next year. He needs a more creative and capable OC. That conversation may be closer to reality. Panthers have already made too many money mistakes. I think he keeps Ron.

I hope the best for Pep though.

Rather go with Adam Gase than Pep.

Gas has been able to utilize all of his offensive players: Thomas, Sanders, Moreno last year.

Pep hasn't been able to establish a running game.

i think that more so has to do with personnel, and not scheme. he had a pretty effective power run game at Stanford. he again, adjusted his scheme to his personnel strength.

Hmm...didn't realize that, I went to West Charlotte as well.  I'm just a few months older than he is, surprised I don't remember him.  It was a big school, though.

yeah i think he played with big mo as well, because when he passed they had some quotes about him from Pep.

Clements is one of my favorite options.

As to the next head coach, i don't believe Richardson will make the choice.  Gettleman will.  It'll only be up to Richardson to sign off on it.

For reference, Richardson wasn't active in the hiring process that got us Rivera or Fox either.  And Dave Gettleman has worked with some successful offensive coaches.

I really hope your right.

More likely scenario imo is Harbaugh leaves SF, Hamilton gets that job and perhaps we poach Roman from the SF staff.

I'm not so sure I'd want Roman.

If you're gonna poach from the 49ers staff, get Brad Seely, Vic Fangio or Jim Tomsula.

If you want an offensive coach, go for someone like Todd Clements or Darrell Bevell; or maybe Kyle Shanahan or even Frank Reich.

I like Pep, but he's a conservative version of Coryell, the same thing most people are pissing and moaning about (hint, it's really personnel and execution you're mad about).  Clements is interesting too, from an offensive standpoint.  I know the front office liked him in '11 but that was, at least partially, a different FO.

I don't know if either are head coaches.
