Pep Hamilton

I really dont want to roll the dice again on a HC like we did with Ron.  I'd like an established coach.  Someone thats been in the poo so to speak and wont go through their first few seasons like deer caught in headlights.

Isn't this the logic of not hiring Chip Kelly, and other better candidates?

When are we going to learn ANY Head Coach is better than Ron Rivera!!

It's actually the exact opposite.  Chip Kelly WAS a HC, and therefore not gambling on a coordinator learning to be a HC which is what I think he was saying.  I'm of the same opinion.  No never-been-HC-before guys, in my opinion.

Here's a thought to blow your mind...

Know who'd a potential OC candidate if Hamilton were hired here?

How about Colts Special Assistant to the Head Coach, and former Panthers Offensive Coordinator, Rob Chudzinski?

Count me in as intrigued.  Hopefully they would bring back the two-TE offense that Cam had a lot of success with his rookie season.

No thanks to Hamilton. Having Luck with him has really made him look better than he is (same thing for Gase with Peyton).

So should we be looking for someone who hasn't done well instead? The point is that these guys arguably know how to utilize the strengths of their players.

From the Freeman article...

While some Colts fans have had a complex relationship with Hamilton, what I can tell you is that within the sport overall, among coaches and executives, there is nothing but extreme respect for him. The main reason, I'm told, is how well he's brought along Luck—slowly, deliberately, patiently. Hamilton relied on the running game (maybe too much so last season) initially as a way of protecting his QB, then as the signal-caller grew exponentially, allowed Luck to be Luck.

I'd rather have someone who has had success in different places in the NFL (I really don't think JR would hire a college coach), and not just with a QB he helped prepare for the NFL (and a guy who is going to be one of the best).

Guys like Harbaugh, Seely, Shanahan (Kyle, not Mile), and hell, possibly even Rex.
