Are there any Rivera defenders left or are we 100% against him coming back?

Rivera is not going anywhere.

 

He will get next season to right the ship, minimum.

 

JR is on board or he wouldn't have given Rivera the extension.

 

Gettleman is on board or JR wouldn't have made that decision.

 

Shula is almost certainly a goner, however. His ties to Cam are not going to save him.

 

This is going to be an interesting off season.

For pretty much what I said above. Remember in the offseason when Gettleman said there would be growing pains? He knew the holes we were going into the season with so I dont see him faulting rivera for that. When in the history of the nfl was the reigning coach of the year fired? I see the ineptitude with rivera as do many others but you cant deny the fact he was handicapped personnel wise. I'm willing to bet Gettleman is joining Cam/Rivera at the hip and will get one more year to prove their worth here. I hope im wrong but I don't think I am.

That makes sense. I'm not as sure. If this season finishes poorly and Rivera isn't fired fans might revolt.

I hope they don't. I think with a better OC we can be a decent team. So if Rivera stays but most of offensive staff goes, i will likely be okay with that.

I would be in favor of keeping Ron ONE more year IF

 

1) He were able to make a home run hire OC. 

 

2) If no great HC candidates were a possibility.

 

And if we were to bring him back I would have a sit down with him and tell him the conservative playing not to lose BS has to go. I do not ever want to see that poo again. 

 

I do not think the above will or can happen so right now I would have to put my vote in the fire RR hat.

Been posting on the Huddle since nearly the beginning and I can't remember a time seeing so many opposed to any coach or GM as people are anti-Rivera right now. Just for the sake of argument, are there ANY Rivera defenders left that want to see him back next year?

Been posting on the huddle since the early beginning to, Rivera has disappointed me. I want a coach who is more vocal on the sidelines during a game. Ron is problably a great DC, but HC no, we need a change.

Bring in a great OC one with potential HC qualities. 

 

Let them know if RR sucked it up again he would be fired mid season and that the new OC can finish out the year as HC. 

 

If everything goes great, well thats good as well.

Like I said in the post before there isn't too many that will sign with a coach on the hot seat. I ultimately just feel that if you let Shula go you need to let Ron go with him.

Like I said, when you think about it, it would be a great situation and a accelerated their path to HC. 

 

But you have to make sure they understand they will get first dibs at the HC job and potentially get a chance to show what they got as soon as next year.
