Torn ACL for Gurley

He walked off on his own power, I'm sure his explosion will be fine

This doesn't mean anything. A torn acl doesn't prevent you from walking. Without additional injuries to the knee almost everyone could walk off the field with a torn acl.

The acl provides lateral support for planting and changing direction.

Adrian Peterson says hello

Darrelle Revis, RG3, Danario Alexander, Marcus Lattimore, Dustin Keller, Melvin Ingram, Rashard Mendenhall, Terrell Davis and countless others say farewell.

I'm not saying it can't be done and his career is over.  I'm saying I don't wanna risk a 1st or 2nd round pick on gambling that he's one of the ones able to make a full recovery, especially when it look like we're going to be picking high and with much greater needs to address.

Just because a handful of players were able to comeback 100% doesn't everyone with a torn ACL will able to do the same.  Everyone is different.  I'm willing to bet my left nut that Gurley will drop to at least the 3rd round.  Either way, the Panthers are not going to waste a pick on a RB who is injury prone.  We already have backs who can't stay healthy as it is.  Plus, we have more important areas that need to be fixed that drafting an injured RB.

Dude i know what the Anterior Cruciate Ligament does. I currently have an A in my Anatomy and Physiology class ok.

i know it doesnt prevent you from walkin  but tell that to all the people who opt to get CARTED OFF instead of taking the TODD GURLEY WALK to the locker room

Just cause he tore his ACL doesn't mean he is injury prone and you shouldn't take him.

More areas to Improve you say??? Our run game is definetly one of them. I know that part of the reason is our oline. Just because we spend a lot of money on running backs doesn't make it effective. It also doesn't imply that we don't address it.

Gurley has top 10 talent in a age were running back has drop in value due to the lack of complete backs the last few years. If were picking at 8th and hes there in the top of the 3rd you have to pull the trigger.

My point was that the fact that he walked off the field has absolutely zero bearing on how he will recover from the injury as you were insinuating.

to me it shows high pain tolerance which is what will be needed to have a speedy recovery. Alot of physical therapy has to do with how much pain a person can and will endure while going through rehab

Gurley has been battling injuries his entire UGA career, so yes, he is injury prone.

Our running game does need to be fixed, but we don't need to take RB until at least the third round.  If he's there in the third round, it would be tempting, but I would pass.  There are several other great backs to choose from that could/should be available in the third, (Mike Davis, Tevin Coleman, David Cobb).  Drafting Gurley is just too risky at this point.   Just my two cents.

All terrible examples. Melvin Ingram was already undersized to play in the NFL and should have never been a first round pick. Darrelle Revis is still a top 5 cornerback and shutting down other teams number one receivers. Marcus Lattimore dislocated his entire knee which means he tore all 4 ligaments in his knee. Not to mention he tore his ACL in his other knee the year before. Danario Alexander, Rashard Mendenhall, Terrell Davis aren't the same athlete that Gurley is. and as for Dustin Keller, he tore 3 of the 4 ligaments in his knee. you're comparing apples to oranges.

a 1st on Gurley no, unless he is able to work out at the combine or at a pro day which is out of the realm of possibilty. A 2nd on him for sure. The reward outweighs the risk IMO

More than just a handful of players are able to comeback at 100%. I'm willing to bet for every player you can name who didn't come back successfully from an ACL injury, I can name one who did. And I mean recent (within the past 5 years), and only ACL tears, not mulitple ligament tears. Those injuries arent what they used to be. Gurley will be back to sprinting by at least April. I tore my ACL 10 years ago and was cleared for contact 6 months after my injury.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
