What do you think of Rivera's habit of blaming individual players by name, but never admitting his own mistakes?

Ron Rivera is the worst coach in the league: this is something we all agree on. The only person that doesn't agree on that is Ron Rivera. When it's press conference time he'll say things like "We expect Gano to make that" or "Cam had some tough throws in the first half" or "Secondary Player X was benched because he was playing poorly", but I don't think I've ever heard him admit to a coaching mistake he's personally made.

 

I think that's what irritates me about this guy more than anything else. Thoughts?

Yeah, he keeps f'n doing this.  He seems to be such a nice guy at times but never takes any damn responsibility.  EVER.  

 

Nice guy, bad coach, doesn't take responsibility...perfect traits of an NFL HC. (sarcasm)

 

He needs to go back to the DC route.  Maybe back to SD, they're struggling this year.

why would he? he believes in his system. execution is the engine through which a scheme succeeds, and if we're losing games, by god it's because of poor execution.

 

but his schemes have been exposed, and in true rivera style he's going down with the ship, just like he does every sunday when his gameplans fail and he refuses to adjust course. it's damn near poetic.

Oh and why would he want to implement a ball-control offense around Cam when we can't score at will?  

 

You make one or two mistakes and "don't execute" and suddenly you're relying on a hurt Cam and Philly Brown to bring us back.  Why install that offense when you have no skill position game-breakers?  We only have chain movers and RZ targets and still have a terrible RZ offense.  

 

It's so pathetic it's beyond belief he believes this is a formidable approach to running an NFL offense.

Rivera is a failure, the 3 year extension based on a fluke year indicates what present management is capable of.

I don't think Rivera is a good HC and I certainly feel we deserve better. However,the fact he often tells it like it happened, is not all bad. I have heard Rivera reply several times, the blame starts at the top with him,after things have gone aray.

i really, even desperately wanted to believe that last year was not a fluke, but let me just dump on Ron, using his own words:

 

 

I expected him to be Riverboat down the stretch. We didn't get that at all.

 

He struggled with playcalling and general head coach responsibilities most of the day. 

 

I wanted to bench Ron because he was coaching poorly.

 

and, of course:

 

I believe Ron is on the cusp of coaching success ........yeah, right.

I'm at this point as well but you'd have to hope that we don't win every game after we are officially eliminated from the playoffs....that seems to happen with this guy.
