But Cam was SHREDDING them the last two drives and was SHREDDING them that same drive.  We would have gotten yards and our OL had blocked well in pass protection.  

Like someone said I can kind of get running on 1st and 2nd down.  Make sure they only have 1 timeout left.  But to not throw on that 3rd down killed it for me.  Rivera is a moron.

A play fake might have been a good call, sure. But while you have the chance for a first down, you risk them sacking Cam and possibly taking you out of FG range.

After first down u run the clock down more and still go for the TD

Never play for a field goal, but know u can kick one for a win if needed.

The coaches forced and created the position of needing to kick a long damn field goal, which equals stupid.

Shula has to go.  He just does.  Yeah Cam didn't play great for 3 quarters and his WRs didn't help anyone out.

 

But I mean, you have to do something different.  Draw up a gadget play.  Do anything!!

 

You got to do something to manufacture some life into the offense when guys are struggling.

Can't believe they didn't at least TRY for a fuging first down. They were playing to GIVE THE FALCONS THE BALL BACK,

"First down" = less important that the overall goal of trying to score a TD, which is what they should've been doing. If you're trying to score a TD, then you'll try to get a 1st down. If you're not trying to score a TD, then you don't care whether or not you get the first down. A FG will be good enough, which is what Rivera was thinking.
