We can't keep Ron Rivera or Mike Shula heading into bye week after that

It's not a stupid decision, given that Gano is excellent from that range, it got the Falcons to waste their timeouts, and gave us enough time for another drive even if we failed provided our defense held. If we tried to pass, we might not have gotten any yardage, and the Falcons would have a minute left - with timeouts - to score.

It's a stupid decision when Cam Newton is hot, you're almost inside the 20 and you have over 1:30 on the clock. Every other team in the NFL would've played for a TD to put the game completely out of reach. Not that dumb@ss.

It absolutely was a terrible, play-not-to-lose decision, though I recognize that 2 of the 3 big plays to get them there were runs.

Did you not see us play conservative at the end? Gano shouldn't have been put in that situation to begin with. No way do you go ultra conservative like that as if a 45-50 yard FG is automatic.

And I think that was an excellent decision given the circumstances. Gano regularly makes 45-50 yards. We trust him to make them. If he fails, it's on him. However, the plan Rivera had gave a contingency for that (namely, being able to try a short last-second drive provided the defense holds).
