"Rosetta's Spacecraft Successfully Lands On Comet

Alana Horowitz AP/HuffPost 11/12/14 11:29 AM ET

European Space Agency's Rosetta space probe on Wednesday successfully deployed its robotic lander Philae on the Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

This is the first time a spacecraft has ever landed on the surface of a comet. The mission was ten years in the making."

Awesome. Are they going to be able to get samples of the surface and bring back? If so how long will it take to retur

The lander is going to analyze samples and then send the data back to earth. I think there's no coming home for our little robot buddy.  It tweeted today that it's drilling into the surface.

Between this - which is completely bad ass - and the Mars rover I am completely convinced that a well funded NASA would have space tourism, a permanent base on the moon, and we would be well on our way to a maned mission to Mars.

But then radical Islam happened, so we made death-raining robots instead.

And the NFL will have franchises in Europe, the Moon and the Panthers will move to their new stadium in Uranus.
