The Gettleman Experience

Well....I'll start with you responding asking me if I have some insider information and then you say "players don't like him". Now THAT is funny.

Gross said it publically in an interview.  So I heard it from Gross.

This is Roaring Riot in a nutshell. Makes fun of others but has little to add of any substance otherwise.

When have you ever had anything to add of any importance other to make fun of others.

all the time actually. I just find the hypocrisy funny.

and about gross. maybe you should have finished listening to the entire thing he said, "i believe you have this organization going in the right direction"

i think for some it comes down to southern distrust of northerners and northern confidence. not saying that is you tho.

Neither Rivera nor Shula were my first choice for their respective positions, but I got on board with both.

I can't justify staying on board with either any longer.

It is easy to get on board when he takes a team that is 2-14 and devoid of talent and takes then to 12-4 in a few years.

On the other hand, I really doubt changing a head coach or the OC will give better results unless we get more talent around this team or run a different system or hire experienced guys.. Especially if we bring in someone unproven and it takes a few years while they learn the ropes. I can see the argument being to change the system for example, go to a WCO because one of the reason the WCO was devised by Walsh was to develop a system where you didn't have to have that much talent to run it.  The system is what makes it good not necessarily the personnel.  Or bring in a guy who has experience as a head coach but isn't doing that currently.(there are actually a bunch of those guys like Turner for example)  Maybe it is me but I am hesitant to change what I know for the unknown unless I have assurances that what we are getting will be much better than what we are losing. And before you say anything is better, I wonder if folks in Tampa right now would agree with you.

I did listen. He is working with the organization in some capacity would he have said he still didn't like him? Gross is smart.  The fact he acknowledged their issues to begin with should be telling enough   And no it wouldn't apply to me since I am one of those damn yankees who came down here to stay because I prefer the South.

I absolutely want more talent on this team.

I also think it'll be wasted if it's Ron Rivera and his staff coaching and evaluating it.

Take a look at the coaching thread I just posted and you'll get an idea of the kind of thing I want.

Look at what I posted in that thread.  How many offensive guys are successful versus defensive?  I don't really know..  And who is out there that fits the bill and wants to come here to Carolina??  These questions are right up your alley.

The "want" part isn't really an issue for me because very few guys would turn down an opportunity to become a head coach, and we definitely have young talent here that would draw interest.

My favorite offensive guys at this point are Darrell Belvell and Tom Clements, both of whom are WCO guys (which is very outside the box for me beause I'm not a big WCO guy).

2015 Offseason should be focused on OTs. I would say 2 Free Agents and a minimum of 2 high draft picks. We have to protect our QB. I will be shocked if this isn't priority #1 as soon as the season is over.

this was the same situation we were in last offseason. By the time the draft came around, everybody had OT and WR as our biggest needs and many of us expected us two draft two OTs. Two no-brainers to me and a lot of others were James Hurst and Seantrel Henderson in the mid to late rounds. Both have started for the Ravens and Bills, two teams doing a lot better than us. Instead we took RB Tyler Gaffney, S Tre Boston, and spent two draft picks (5th and 7th) on CB Bene Benwikere.

Also, Seattle took their starting RT Justin Britt a few spots after we took Kony Ealy so we'll see who made the better decision there. To be fair i didn't have Britt on the list of OTs I wanted but I'm not a pro scout or GM

Bottom line is that It was mind-bogglingly incompetent not to get any OTs last draft.

And getting rid of Steve Smith was retarded as well, although i always figured that was personal, and that turned out to be true. Hard to make good decisions when things get personal and Smith is one of those guys that can really push your buttons

This whole thing is the result of this team catching lightning in a bottle last year.I would say the F.O and the fanbase didn't expect that outcome in 2014, thus the expectations went through the roof. Let's see what he can do in 2015 with more cap space and some experience. Things change year to year in the NFL.
