Two Words: "Nick Saban"

A better example would be to point out that Saban was a very good NFL DC before he took the head coaching job at Michigan State. Compare to Shula as an NFL OC:

Saban as DC of Browns (hired away by Mich St to be head coach)

1991 - #14/18 defense

1992 - #10/14 defense

1993 - #12/17 defense

1994 - #1/7 defense

Shula as OC of Bucs (was fired and his next job was QB coach for MIA)

1996 - #28/30 offense

1997 - #23/29 offense

1998 - #18/22 offense

1999 - #27/28 offense

Panthers OC

2013 - #18/26 offense

2014 - #25/25 offense

and if you add Saban's time as Dolphins HC...

Saban as DC of Browns (hired away by Mich St to be head coach)

1991 - #14/18 defense

1992 - #10/14 defense

1993 - #12/17 defense

1994 - #1/7 defense

HC of Dolphins

2005 - #15/18 defense

2006 - #4/5 defense

Shula as OC of Bucs (was fired and his next job was QB coach for

MIA)

1996 - #28/30 offense

1997 - #23/29 offense

1998 - #18/22 offense

1999 - #27/28 offense

Panthers OC

2013 - #18/26 offense

2014 - #25/25 offense

That's inherent to the point I made. It contradicts nothing.

I guess?

So your "point" is that better coaches produce more wins? Is that even a "point", or is it just general knowledge?

I'm just really not understanding why this is a topic of discussion, or what new insights I can glean from this thread. Just sounds to me like "subtle" Shula whining.

But the point is that anyone can say just fire someone. If you don't have a better option we could be in the same boat as the offseason when he let players go but didn't replace with better. Then you just go from bad to worse. It is the kind of response typical around here but surely not insightful or adding to the conversation.

Unless I'm Dave Gettleman, I don't need to NAME squat.

That's something many of you posters don't seem to understand.

Something else you don't seem to get is I don't need to present another name to you for Shula to suck at his job and deserve to lose it.

If it's general knowledge, then why doesn't Rivera, or the Panthers, apparently know it?

You are absolutely correct in that you can do whatever you want and say whatever you want.  You have every right to do so.But if you want to be taken seriously and live up to to your new name, you would amend the negative slant and instead offer us insight and wisdom. But hey, if you want to do else wise, that is your prerogative.

You'd be reading it incorrectly if you thought that. No "hiring" suggestion was made. Only a "firing" one, in general.

And I don't need to know "who" should replace Shula (or Rivera). That's not my role, or my responsibility.

And here I thought the :P and the ;) would have made my joke a dead giveaway.

*sigh*

What year did Shula leave TB? without googling, your theory suggests either 2k or 2001..

Another nail in the coffin, perhaps. Its known that he isnt very good, but can we know it any more? Just more misery to revel in...

We even have his next up waiting in the wings. Or... Could Ramsdell's influence this year be part of the reason?

Can it just be the O-line & playcalling?

edit:it was '99.........

the guys that replaced Shula under Dungy weren't better.

People get wrapped up in Shula getting fired but that O was more or less talentless.  Dungy's always been crap for offense, save getting gifted with Manning, same as Gruden is clueless of defense.  The Bucs got lucky enough to ride the wave between them, to get a ring.

Shula's a solid coach when he has tools and when he's able to run what he wants to run - ball control with some deep passing.  He's without those tools, so naturally it looks like hell.  I'm OK with him going, based on the last few weeks, but this topic does literally nothing to address that this year's the only thing that matters.   Shula's been fired.  John Fox was once let go from a defensive coordinator job.  Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry were assistants together under a guy with the Giants whose name really doesn't matter.  None of this matters.  What's happening on the field right now, that matters.

I repeat. No names need to be offered for Shula to suck and need to be fired, or for Rivera to be a joke, therefore I'm not offering any.

I'll keep this short since this whole thread is getting too silly.

General knowledge. Unfortunately, our coaches and GM are on contracts, so we face repercussions if we cut them early.

Be patient. If our coaching staff is that bad, something will be done. Stop assuming that the whole Panthers organization is idiotic.

Granted, this is the huddle, but I digress...
