If you are hurt, why are you playing then? This is what Ray Lewis was saying, speak up Cam.

He said he's hurting, but that's not the reason for his play and our losses. If we were winning, these conversations wouldn't exist

Probably the most annoyed I've seen Cam in a presser in a while

I hate how a lot of people keep saying "everyone plays hurt in the NFL."

Cam Newton is hurt more than your average player.  He's going through a lot more pain than your average player.  Just because everyone technically goes through nicks and bruises throughout the season does NOT put them on the same level of Newton as far as health goes.  And compared to every other QB in the league with the exception of maybe Tony Romo, no QB is coming close to playing with as much pain as Newton appears to be going through.  He can't even step into his throws anymore.

cam is confirming what I said earlier which he isn't 100% but at this point who is? If everyone sat who was dinged up we couldn't field a team.

It is a great time to start Anderson or Webb and sit Cam. He needs the rest and a break. Plus we need to see if it Cam or will everyone struggle at QB right now. The reason he is playing is because if he sits now he loses his leadership role with the team and is seen as soft by teammates like Davis who plays through pain daily. it is a macho thing in the league so you play through pain so other players see you as a leader and respect your toughness. Guys like Otah were seen as soft and treated with disdain.

I think he is less effective. I saw him running and you could see he was lifting his foot off the ground as opposed to planting and stepping on his fore foot to sprint him. It could be the reason his mechanics are so off because I can find no other way to explain the variance between his early season play and how he is currently playing. Hope he does not do more damage to his foot.

First of all he admitted he had no injury that would keep him out of a game so he isn't that hurt. Secondly if you played football you would know that few sports are as macho as football. Guys who don't play through pain are seen as soft and never are seen as a leader. It isn't just playing hurt but he is playing for the team's respect as a leader. He has often been seen as getting special treatment like his own weight room for example so if he bails now he will be seen as giving up. Honestly I wish we would sit him but understand that he is playing in a macho environment where you do play through injuries.

As for how hurt he is, it is hard to say more or less than average given that pain is actual subjective and affected by many factors.

The bigger question is, why has DA not played if he's given us the best chance to win?  Talk about blind loyalty.  If Cam's health issues are the reason for his poor play....which in turn has caused all the scrutiny....why was DA not played from the beginning?  It makes it seem like Cam has given an ultimatum to the team if he was sat in favor of DA even though he's been hurt.  That's probably not what happened, but it makes it appear that way.

It just shows they're more concerned with the publicity that Cam brings then getting the W's.  God forbid DA plays while Cam's hurt and has a good year.  The coaches would rather have a crappy year with a hurt Cam then a decent year with a healthy DA.

I know he doesn't have an injury that is going to keep him out of the game.  Doesn't change the fact he is more hurt than your average player.  Just watch him play.  Look at his body language.  Look how he gets out of the huddle and walks off the field.  Dude is hurt and not just a couple of nicks and bruises.  Not to mention I never said he shouldn't play, so I don't know what your point is about him sitting out and stuff.  Not saying he should or he shouldn't.  But to say "every player plays hurt" as if your average player is going through the pain Newton is going through is ridiculous.  He's going half-speed right now.  He's not the Cam from 2011-2013.  Mark Sanchez looked more mobile than him.

Cam's a tough dude and I don't think he is going to sit out unless the injury is too serious.  But his level of play is clearly being effected.

This is the problem with you apologists. How do you know he his hurt more than the average player or exactly how hurt the average player is at this point. You pull things out,of your butt based on an observation you made and act as if you have talked with Cam or have some special understanding the rest of us don't. Plus you are so tied up in your own replies you don't read what I am saying. Did I not say that pain is subjective and not everyone feels it the same way. Did I not say that pain was often do to your situation and whether for example you are winning or losing. So I have no idea what the average player feels nor do you. As for why is he going half speed, I don't know and neither do you. I just don't try and make excuses. Honestly I would like to see Webb or Anderson given I am not convinced that Cam is necessarily the best option right now and I don' t want to damage him further. But like I said football is a macho sport and pain is a given you play through if you want to a respected leader. Cam knows that.

Cam does not want to be the Derrick Rose of the NFL, nor will he be.

We've seen Cam play through being hurt plenty in the past, even when we were losing his first two years. The way he looks this season is completely different. That's what tells me he's playing more hurt than average.

when you are losing and playing poorly hits hurt a lot more and you feel in more pain. Add that to his offseason injuries and the fact he is still healing and I think you are right. But I doubt he sits and loses face with his team mate which is a shame. At this point he is playing so poorly I don't think he is the best option when not 100%.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that guys post was silly...now people are arbitrarily saying Cam is more hurt than other players without any knowledge at all of other teams....lol...
