I love the Panthers more than Smitty...but when he said stuff like this everyone was rubbing his nuts but now he takes a shot at DG and you all hate him? Wut?

DG is apart of the panthers organization.

steve took a shot at the panthers organization more than once.

questions?

this is a lot of fuging words to put forth an argument that i still fundamentally disagree with

unless steve smith can play offensive tackle, we're not a lick better this season.  and yeah, you are a fanboy.

Please quote me where I said we'd be better with him this season. Feel free to justify your own position (since you fundamentally disagree) on Steve Smith's importance to Panthers history.

You're delusional.

I'm on the fence about Smitty personally.  DG should have given him a chance to take a pay cut to make cap room instead of a flat out release.  So in that way, the program (DG) was wrong and I'm on Smity's side.

BUT...

Smitty was less than a reliable receiver the last 3 or 4 years at Carolina.  I for one (though I always loved seeing him play) thought his performance was indicative of "getting old" or being past his prime.  I thought he was probably ready to retire.  It PISSES me off pretty bad that he goes over to the Ravens (whom, after living in Baltimore for 3 years a few years back are in my top 5 most hated teams) and it's like he gained new life.  New life all to show that he's still got it.  Like he's saying "See, Panthers?  You fools.  I am still a marquise WR."  If he was still that good, why was he not playing that way for us?

All that said, I hope the bad blood drains away and we can bring him back for a game or two so he can retire as a Panther when the time comes.  That would be a classy move by both sides.

You don't think it is deservedly so to an extent?

Maybe in its immediate aftermath sure. But it's been a while now, and he still is acting very bitter IMO.

It's the NFL.

Much better players with longer tenures on more prestigious franchises have been cut or traded with much less bitterness expressed.

Have they been cut or traded the way he has though?

It was personal, so it's going to stay personal to Steve for a while. The question is why are you guys bitter. Its not like he said fug the fans. This falls on Dave and Ron. And let's be clear if you consider what Dave & Ron did as including you, well I guess you should be bitter

Or maybe its because a lot thought he wouldn't have the year he's had, the year Ravens has had and many thought we're better off with Dave 3rd stringers

That's how immature people with the personalities of children tend to react.

My father had his own share of figurative "punches" thrown at him in his life (without the advantage of being a multi-millionaire, I might add).  He picked himself up and got on with life.

That's how MEN move on.  That's the example MATURE fathers set for their children.

But whiny bitches gonna be whiny bitches, I guess.

You can love him or not, but only the most blind fan of Steve Smith would say it isn't crystal clear that he is extraordinarily bitter. And petty.

I don't think ya'll have noticed the last decade plus how Smitty motivates himself.

He'd never have made this league and dominated for many years without a severe chip on his shoulder be it real or more likely created.

I was once a big fan of Steve Smith and he was my favorite all time Carolina Panthers player, however, I have lost all respect for him, after the way he has continued to carry on about his release, refusing to let it go.

I felt bad about the abrupt way he was released but after he made it a pity party that went on national media, my feeling were reversed . I am a Carolina Panthers fan, first and foremost , if someone like Steve Smith makes a federal case out of being released, his bias actions could very well prevent future free agents from signing with us

The way Steve Smith has carried his personal vendetta on continusly, confirms the fact in my mind, he is all about himself and himself only. Like I previously stated,i didn't like the way he was released but this happens in the harsh world of the NFL and it's happened to better players with bigger names than Smith.

The Carolina Panthers have payed Steve Smith Millions of dollars, making him and his familyso rich he is set for life, at a very young age . Instead of being thankful and grateful to the team for these blessing,he continues to take public actions and make statements that could hurt the Carolina Panthers.

If the Panthers decide to sign him for a day after his playing days are over and let him retire a Carolina Panther,so be it. However,I will not be one standing in line shouting his praise or offering congratulations, that would be a waste of time because he seems to have a big enough ego and pride to be self sufficient.

Steve Smith not your father. Your father is not Steve Smith. How is another man going to tell another man how to act, react and feel?

Society lol

The butthurt is humorous on here. 89 is simply motivating himself as he always has, only some of that venom is pointed at Carolina now. It's what kept this little man great in a big man's sport.
