From what was posted, it looked like enough context to make the claim that Shula said something incredibly stupid. Even if you throw that out, you still have this preponderance of really insulting, inflammatory stuff coming elsewhere from the organization.

Why wouldn't I believe him? The only person left at the organization from when things went south with him is Jerry Richardson. Making up something bad about Cam, tweeting it once and never really following up, doesn't hurt Richardson at all.

Bill just emailed me the audio and I haven't listened to it yet... I will do that and try and post it here somehow...  my first read of his comments I agree with you, but Bill says there's more to it and he's one of the media guys I really trust...

 

He says that Shula is ultra protective of Cam and had no intent of "ripping Cam or even questioning him."

Listening to what Shula was saying, it really was kind of a "throw away" comment... just clarifying that he didn't think Cam was in the Manning/Brady/Rodgers category before it got out there that he thinks Cam is.

 

I agree with Bill, it was just an innocent clarification in a conversation that got taken too far out of context.

I'll admit when I first read that comment in the OP, I was like "wtf is wrong with him?"  But hearing it like that makes it sound differently... it wasn't critical at all.  He was just trying to avoid being caught in a comparison that he wasn't really even trying to make.
