Santonio Holmes? I guess it couldn't hurt.

A hockey guy writing about the Carolina Panthers. That's precious!  But at this point, perhaps Sean Sarcu of Rant Sports has a point. Old Holmes is a return man also.

Holmes could be a useful addition for a receiving corps in need of some offensive punch, and no team comes to mind faster than the Carolina Panthers.

Holmes isn’t the same player that won a Super Bowl in 2009, but he’s still a smart, savvy wideout capable of making some plays if given the opportunity. He showed some flashes of promise in limited action for the disastrously dysfunctional Bears. While Carolina isn’t in such a great situation itself, it is certainly no Chicago (Rochester Jeffersons, anyone?). A change of scenery could do wonders for Holmes, and the Panthers would stand to benefit from it.

Well, it would be a move that wreaks of desperation, but that's pretty much where we are.  Perhaps he could help our anemic offense that relies so heavily on passing win some of these winnable games (on paper anyway), get us over the hump and secure the division.

Now let me go have a therapeutic moment of meditation.

can he catch with his back to the ball? because until cam gets some protection that buys him more than 2 seconds to throw the ball and/or shula draws up some plays that present cam with some real quick passes, and the defense doesn't suck and allow the other team to score some quick points, making us play from behind, it doesn't matter who we have at WR.

Our priority is about DBs, and OTs.

Our Wrs corps is good enough, fix the o'line, sit cam since he is seriously inujured, find us at least 3 starting DBs, save the private Krakken if this is still possible.. and the team will be back on tracks.

Our WR corps is not "good enough".  It cannot create separation, period.

I don't see us fixing the O-line, or the defensive backfield before the season ends, so why not just do the best you can?  It's not like it will cost anything.

Addressing the O-line and defensive backfield and other priorities (and, yes, our WR corps should absolutely be one of those priorities) can only be sufficiently addressed after the season.  We can only make the best of it right now.

just a waste of money at this point, might as well try to carry as much cap over to next year.

Holmes won't cost us anything except what we're already paying some useless scrub.  The cost is virtually nothing, and it certainly won't have any cap implications for next year...unless G-man decides to sign him to a longer contract.
