Mike Mitchell is not Pittsburgh's answer according to Rosenthal

Gregg Rosenthal didn't exactly give Mike Mitchell a thumbs up in this short synopsis in his winners and losers column for week 10.

 

 

 

Mike Mitchell: Forget the silly jumping over the pile kerfuffle to end Pittsburgh's loss. Mitchell bit hard on play action on T.J. Graham's long touchdown and has generally struggled all year. Steelers fans always want the team to dive into free agency, but this is what happens when you spend big money on mid-level starters.

Of course it'd be much more professional if he stood on the sidelines in the path of a return man and then acted like he had no idea he was in the way. That's how true professionals behave, right?

In our scheme he was worth his salary.

Mitchell was always a liability in pass coverage. It just wasn't as noticeable. That last play in Miami last year sums up his pass coverage ability

I don't know what you've been seeing but Mitchell looks like Sean Taylor compared to fuging Roman Harper.

He might not be the answer in Pittsburgh, but he would be the answer here.

 

I really hope they cut his ass this offseason and we bring him back, but I doubt it happens.

 

You can say what you want about him, but he is rangy, athletic, and edgy...  Even if he isn't making the tackle in our defense, he's at least getting to the ball and slowing them down, something that Harper and Decoud struggle to even do.
