Hue Jackson

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

JR isn't going to pay Ron to sot on his couch.

However, I loved what Hue did in Oakland. They could have made the playoffs that year. We are in dire need of am offensive minded HC (have we ever had one?) Assuming Harbaugh doesn't leave SF, I would love Hue as the next best option.

Of course. However, if there is a coordinator more capable of utilizing and building on Cam's skill set, the Denver model (limiting the HC's input on offense) might be worth looking at.

Right now, I'd rather have an offensive head coach who hands the defense over to his Dc than vice versa.

(though I admit I'm also still intrigued by the thought of a John Harbaugh type hire with Dave Toub or Brad Seely)

For the folks who think a Hue Jackson - Cam Newton connection is ideal, ponder this for a moment...

Hue Jackson is essentially Steve Smith in the form of a coach.

Remember the stories that Cam and Smitty weren't exactly the best of friends?  That one of the reasons Smitty was let go was that he was having a negative effect on Newton's ability to take a leadership role?  Remember all that discussion?

With those in mind, are you absolutely certain you want a guy who's a clone of Smitty in charge of Cam's development?

I admit Hue's not my first choice.

I'm more partial to Darrell Bevell and Tom Clements right now, but also kind of intrigued by Dave Toub or Brad Seely.

Bevell in particular strikes me as sort of a 'mad scientist' type (kinda like Payton).

Can you expand on this Mr. Scot?

I'm wondering if you're talking about his days in Minnesota, because every time I talk with Seahawks friends they constantly lament Bevell's predictable run, run, pass approach to the offense.

One good thing is you can go back and look at that Raiders season and see how he handles the clock, challenges, etc. Ron is about the worst I've ever seen at that stuff and I can't take another coach who makes the stupidest challenges in the history of man.

This is what I want as well. Ron sucks at almost every aspect of being a game day head coach. Gimme one that can manage a clock.

I think Steve Smiths problem was he was ready to retire and didn't care. There are a bunch of people who would say a young Smith did everything he could to win games. Just saying, look at him now he has motivation.
