Why Does Ricky Proehl Get a Pass?

We have WR's literally quitting on plays, making ridiculous drops, lack of hustle.. Is Proehl's at fault as well?  He has gotten a pass on these forums and I have never understood why.  

 

I get that Cam is missing some wide open opportunities but ALL of these drops are indicative of flawed coaching yes?

Look at the routes Shula has them running. Takes them 3-5 seconds to get open down the field and by then Cam's sacked. Jerry Rice couldn't get open on these routes any faster than 3 seconds. All around stupidity from the offensive coaching staff.

No one is blameless in this situation, but Proehl's real job here is coaching up young WRs.  Our problem at WR is the vets, guys who shouldn't exactly need much from Proehl.

How much of a difference would it make to have a real NFL caliber OL, and an OC who actually knows how to make adjustments, and call plays that actually play to the strength of his personnel versus long developing routes when your QB has 1 second to throw the ball?

Give Stephen Hill a shot at WR. I don't give a darn if he has a case of the drops,at least he has to speed to seperate and take the top of a defense,something these other WR rejects can't do.

Ricky Proehl gets a pass the same reason why Kalil gets a pass. Because he is way down on the list of things wrong with this team. Probably 147th and tree-fitty respectively.

People don't want to admit it but Proehl was given chicken s*** to work with this year and expected to make chicken salad.

 

Kelvin Benjamin was a raw one year college project.....I'd say Ricky has done a pretty good job with him.  He has a legitimate shot at being Offensive Rookie of the Year, and if he hadn't made some "ROOKIE" mistakes (drops and quitting on routes), he would be having an all pro caliber year.  Note i highlighted the word Rookie, because that's what he is.  He isn't going to be perfect all the time (unfortunately this sack of crap offense needs him to be).

 

Jericho Cotchery is nothing more than a possession receiver.  Always has been always will.  Our offense doesn't use him correctly (which is evident by him running 20+ yards down the field on every play).  He needs to be the one running the quick outs and slants.  He is made to catch the ball within 10 yards of the LOS.

 

Jason Avant is a philly castoff.  If you are can't make it in a Chip Kelly offense as a receiver, you really shouldn't be in the league.

 

Bersin is from Wofford freaking College, and he runs the best routes of all our receivers.  

 

Philly Brown has shown some promise at receiver, but he's nicked up.

 

Proehl deserves no blame on this season.  Former player or not, he's getting the best he can out of the bargain bin scraps he was given.

I like Proehl, and I'd keep him, but objectively speaking he's not blameless.
