Then Dave needs to fire Ron. Simple and plain. Coaches hire their staff. Not the GM.

Dave IMO has not earned that much control either. This is his first rodeo and no other team would even grant him a interview. He doesn't have the resume that I would continue to expand his role/power.

Gettleman actually did have at least two, maybe three, interviews for GM jobs in the past few years (Browns and Chiefs I know, one other I think but I forget who).

Maybe it was supposed to be pure Coryell, but it's nowhere close IMO.  There's only a small handful of plays that I've seen, in which could be labeled "Coryell."  It's most definitely a mess, there's no question about that.

What we do is right out of the Coryell system.  You can run any type of play out of a Coryell system.  It isn't about the just the plays but how you stretch the field vertically versus the EP system which does it horizontally.

Coryell systems uses power running schemes (which we did last night), intermediate and deep routes (which we tried to do when we had time), using the tight end as a wide receiver which we do a lot, etc.

Both Mike Martz and Norv Turner run a Coryell offense but do it very differently, if you look at plays alone you would think they are 2 very different animals but they are all still the same system.  Truth is that most systems are not pure systems but use pieces and parts from different systems. For example we use a zone read play scheme at times which is clearly not Air Coryell but it doesn't mean we don't use that system.

"Gettleman admitted to being frustrated that he was never granted any interview opportunities for general manager positions around the league despite his past success"

Everything I ever read on Dave was like this above. We were the only ones to even interview him. I'll have to look at what you posted....media guys get stuff wrong all the time

We were the only ones to interview him the year he was hired.

The other interviews came in prior years.

Use the draft to invest in the OL majorly, bring in another young wr with speed. Play to Cam's strengths on offense. He's athletic with a big arm, with accuracy issues. He needs open targets downfield to open up his run game and short-intermediate passing game. Run a spread-zone read offense. Give Cam Gus Malzahn.

I respect your opinion.  I think Coryell at it's best, and no matter how you try to vary it, depends highly on spreading out the offense.  Sideline to sideline, 4-5 WR's running routes, and depends on the RB as a check-down/screen option in all cases, aside from actual running plays.  We very rarely do any of that.  EP can sometimes make people think Coryell, because it also makes use of the deep passing attack quite frequently, which we've seen a lot of this season.  The difference is, and I totally see this in our offense, is the RB is rarely used as a receiver, and almost never uses 4-5 receiver sets.  It's more "compact" and relies more on setting up the deep ball via play-action.  Hell, it's so fuged up right now, it may be neither, or just a stupid ass combination of both.

Cam is a play action pass QB, who needs a strong running game to succeed. We're never going to air it out with Cam. He's not Luck, Brees, Payton, or any other QB who can throw a high number of passes in a pass first style offense. The running game, and defense need to be in place. He needs what Jake Delhomme had in place when he was doing well.
