If you change OCs do you change style or philosophy

I think if we were to give Shula his walking papers today, we put in a interim OC to run this same style offense who can bring in a different philosophy.  As soon as the lights go out on the super bowl, you make your hire.  Then if you want to change the style, go for it.  I don't think you can change the style of offense mid-season and have it be any less of a train wreck IMHO.

I really liked the playbook of 2011.

Have a multiple system. I don't know why people have to latch on to just one style.

I would love to see some Pistol, Spread shotty, full house, power I. Mix it up. Mix up tempo at times to suit the game. Cam can do a little bit of everything. We just have to put our offense together

We don't use pistol but Shula uses all those others in his mix already

I really think that gettleman might make that call. While I don't think Rivera will be fired he won't be given carte blanche this time around.  I think that Gettleman is going to be very active in making decisions going forward.

Rivera shouldn't have been given input in the whole roster process.

I can see giving that kind of input to an established coach with a good track record, but Rivera hadn't earned it.

Then Dave needs to fire Ron. Simple and plain. Coaches hire their staff. Not the GM.

Dave IMO has not earned that much control either. This is his first rodeo and no other team would even grant him a interview. He doesn't have the resume that I would continue to expand his role/power.

Gettleman didn't want to upset the apple cart right away but take a look see approach and said as much.  When things worked so well last year he didn't have much to say so this year is the first time when he can decide what he wants to do although honestly he should be taking some of the blame as well for the folks he brought in. Compared to Rivera. Gettleman has much less of a proven track record.

Different systems require different types of players.

If you tried running a West Coast Offense with WR and OL that were suited to Coryell, it likely wouldn't go so well.

All valid, but I think last year was an illusion.

Your second paragraph answers the first.  Gettleman has to make sure he can do better which isn't always guaranteed.  He hasn't exactly been the great talent evaluator  and contract negotiator he claims he is.

It was closer to E-P last year.

This year, it's supposed to be a more pure Coryell.

In reality, what it is is a mess.

Maybe it was supposed to be pure Coryell, but it's nowhere close IMO.  There's only a small handful of plays that I've seen, in which could be labeled "Coryell."  It's most definitely a mess, there's no question about that.
