*FreeFua*'s 5 Round Mock

We could be picking as high as #5 by the time is this season comes to a end. This mock is more of draft I'd like to see happen rather then what I think will happen. We all know there's no way this organization goes offense heavy even though it needs to be done. Anyway here we go...

Round 1: Amari Cooper. Cooper is a stud and Cam finally gets a WR with YAC ability. Cooper is BPA here by a long shot and fills a position of need

Round 2: Ereck Flowers. There is no way OT can't be addressed with this class. We all said the same thing about WR last year so it's possible I guess.

Round 3: Jake Fisher. You can't have too many tackles. I'd like to see Fisher gain a little weight as he is on the lighter side at 300 pounds. Fisher moves well and in round 3 he's BPA.

Round 4: Chris Hackett. This guy has been on my radar since last season. I stumbled upon him while watching cut ups of Jason Verrett. Hackett has good length and is a solid tackler (open field and in the box). There's just no way we can march Harper and Decoud back out there next season.

Round 5: Phillip Dorsett. S-P-E-E-D!!! We have ZERO of it and need it. Dorsett becomes our starting slot immediately. Cooper, KB and Dorsett would be a very nice WR combo as they all bring something different to the table. Dorsett being available in the 5th may be a long shot but hopefully horrible QB play hurts his draft stock and we benefit.

We manage to rebuild our offense through 1 draft. There are just too many holes to properly fix everything in one draft. Time to fix one side of the ball and I'd pick the 1 with my franchise player on it.

Flowers-Norwell-Kalil-Turner-Fisher would be our OL. I'd like to try and sign a vet to help ease Flowers and Fisher in.

There you have it, my ideal mock halfway through November.

Like the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th.  But think we could get better value with Cooper sitting there than actually picking up (like I have in my mock)

Really like Dorsett late but think we can get him around the 6th.  He has has some issues with his hands

If you could guarantee me Collins and Parker I'd take that trade!

I'd then use my 3rd rounder and draft this Collins:

I'd then stop with the zone D and run man with Jalen and Josh as my corners. Both which are better suited for man

Not sure that Collins will make it that far down to the 3rd as well.  That along with as atrocious as our OL has been with zero holes in the run game, getting our franchise QB killed id just go with a complete OL overhaul and getting a top Guard like Tomlinson in the early 3rd.  Amini got beat Bad last night as well.  Getting the run game back to what it was when smash and dash were hitting strides in addition with a protected Cam who has confidence in his OL with more weapons.  This offense would turn a complete 180 even with a OC as incompetent as Shula.  It'd also take a little more than just Collins to be comfortable enough for our DBs to get out of man.  Getting the front 7 back to what it was last year masks that DB weakness (thus reason think JPP should be our top FA target).

Do this and we will have both sides of the trenches locked down (where you win games), weapons for QB locked down.

Then going into the next offseaon we can hit hard and heavy double and triple dip at DB.  Along with some big really bad Hurney contracts beginning to expire.  JPP and Ealy at DE will give room to cut some fat with another big Hurney contract.  We could come out of the 16 offseason looking fat and happy.

If you could guarantee me Collins and Parker I'd take that trade!

Ah I guess I could've included school's and positions. Chris Hackett's a safety though from TCU

Ah, my mistake.  I've heard his name pop up a couple of times, and for some reason I thought he was a receiver.  I also could have read your comments on him heehee.

    • I saw that too--and what you said made sense because there is something like that in the rules--said that he is unlikely to get picked up (and I was not suggesting that we do) and Jones wants to go to a winning team.   After getting beaten to death in NY behind a sub par OL, poor WRs, and brutal fan base, I get it.
    • True.  Sam and Baker did not do well here but went on to better things under better coaching, circumstances or both.  The real question is, ‘why aren’t the Panthers able to get improved performance out of ‘broken toys’, similar to Minnesota and Tampa? That is a rhetorical question.  I think we know the answer.   [The cultural reference to Pogo dates me, I’ll admit.]
    • Did I mention that he was on worse teams?  Yes.  Do QBs alone win games?  No.  Did Cam, on a much better team with some awesome defenses ever have 2 consecutive winning seasons?  No.  So now you are cherry picking,  If the overall stats are similar, you take a look at him.   I told you that you look at his skill set---but you wanted to tell me that he sucks and mentioned performance.  I just presented performance--and his numbers are very similar to Cam Newton's numbers--a player most call the best Panther QB ever--and I agree.  By the way, Fumbles are evidence of how bad his OL has been--so you are saying that a QB in a situation worse than Cam's who has stats and physical abilities very similar to Cam's should not be given a look when you have Bryce Young at QB?  You are going with that story because you simply talked your way into a corner and now you are trying to save face.  No good GM would do what you suggest because "he sucks."  Sorry, but the facts do not support you.  But no matter what eye-opening details I provide, there are some who are going to go their Google machines to try to find some reason to support an ignorant approach to developing the QB position.  You ignored the similarities to Cam and went cherry picking.  I know what you are doing--but I am only suggesting (as I have stated before) that we bring him in as one of three approaches to resolving the QB issue. Compete with Bryce and draft a QB. Basically, I am suggesting that Jones has the potential to replace Dalton and compete with Young.  He is a battered stock that could get better in a better situation--that is human nature.  Instead, I am called a Daniel Jones lover and superfan.  That is good debate--But a real sign of mature thinking is the inability to LOGICALLY consider alternative perspectives--which is actually a characteristic of intelligence.  Just so you know, I critique and perform research in my job.  I am often amazed at how the numbers do not support my suppositions.  I learned that my impression is often wrong until I look at the data.  In this case, I have considered all the important variables and he should get a shot.  Numbers don't lie--and when you and others resort to twisted name calling directed toward the poster--it verifies my position.
