Defensive Strategy

Was anyone else frustrated with the defensive playcalling? We lost this game from turnovers and ST, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out why we weren't blitzing Sanchez all night.

Sure we brought 1 extra guy some (TD comes to mind), but why the hell would you continue to rush 4 and let Sanchez get comfortable from the very beginning? Bring the fugging house and make him think about it the next play, then bluff it or bring it again.

We had a chance to make him nervous and scared the rest of the game, dictate the tone. Instead we just sunk back and gave him all day to survey, disappointing.

I agree. The redskins beat the Cowboys because they showed blitz every single play. When they sent it they got a sack or pressure enough to force and incompletion. When they didn't send it they'd have great coverage and force the Cowboys to have 6 guys blocking 3 rushers. Scared Romo into thinking he didn't have time when he actually did. Sanchez is mistake-prone and we didn't put ourselves in a position to capitalize on his mistakes.

Redskins have the talent in the secondary to blitz.  Breeland was excellent for them in that game.  Norman is the only corner we have that I would trust in coverage one-on-one.  Cason, White, Harper, DeCoud, all not capable.  It limits what you can do.

We blitzed quite a bit, but the problem is having the likes of Roman Harper isolated on a receiver and depending on him to cover the guy...which he clearly can't do.

It's not as simple as just "blitz more."

LMAO at Roman Harper blitzing.

By the time he makes it to the line of scrimmage the opposing team is already lined up to start the next play and he gets whistled for offside.

I was frustrated with the defense last night because Mark Sanchez carved us up. We couldn't bring pressure and we couldn't cover to save our life. We are 27 against the run and 25 against the pass and 25 in total defense. I know Greg Hardy played a huge role and is a huge factor on our team but just him won't make a difference. This coaching staff needs to go.

Id have to go back and look but don't care enough to do so. But I think they played a zone on that 3rd down play when the Eagles were pinned up against their on goal line. Sanchez obviously went Norman's way (who struggles in zone) and picked up the 1st.

Nnamdi was a great corner who excelled in man but struggled in zone so it's not unheard of. I put this one on McDermott before I blame Josh.

I remember that play, that was a disaster. Instead of coming Sanchez on 3rd and long on their 5 we sink to zone.

Could've forced him into a bad decision there or a sack
