Your the GM, how do you fix this train wreck?

Can Shula, pick up Lane Kiffin OC. This will not be popular by no means but the guy can coach an offense. The guy has that fiery personality which would be good for Cam imo.

FA's

JPP: We need to get back to the strength. JPP in the line to replace Hardy is what we need. Also a former guy Gettleman scouted. Give Ealy another year to groom before we part ways with CJ the next year, letting him slide into the starting spot

Brandon Tate: Decent return man and 3rd WR like Ginn was

Bruce Carter: Athletic LB. Perfect to play under Rivera and Shadow Luke/TD. Could replace TD down the road.

Draft:

1st: Trade with Browns. I'd love Cooper but think we can get a better value trading the pick to Cleveland. The Browns filled some holes last year. but with the uncertainty of Gordon, Cooper sitting there would make their mouth water. So the 2 first rounders for Cooper would be a deal for a team like us who multiple needs

1st #1: La'El Collins- Kids has the tools to be good LT. If not could be a force at RT, Think a Healthy Otah if not possibly better (would make our RB's feel like christmas day with the thought of that beside Turner)

1st #2: DeVante Parker- Now he is no slouch either and would be perfectly with KB. Kids name was thrown around as a potential 2nd rounder in Last years super deep WR class. He came back but missed the first part of the year, since hes returned he has dominated. Reminds me a little of a poor mans Dez Bryant (talent wise)

2nd: Spencer Drago/ Flowers- If Drago comes out and falls to here jump all over it. If not Flowers would be good. Whoever it is will compete with Collins for LT. The loser will get RT

3rd: Laken Tomlinson- Athletic, Smart Kid with all the tools. Amini has looked decent when Healthy, but thats the key word when Healthy. He seems worse than Stewart when it comes to that. If he can stay healthy and look good. We just built some Depth at a spot you need depth, look at this year. Think Tomlinson could beat out Amini anyways.

4th: Terry Williams- Depth in the Trenches. Where you win ball games. Star when we drafted him, the biggest concern was him playing to many snaps and wearing down. He has not looked the same this year, think mainly to being on the field more. With teams having much more success against our D this year keeping them on the field along with our Offensive failures he has played many of snaps. Williams would be perfect for those times to give Star a breather.

5th-7th: BPA

We have a ton of holes, but people need to remember we had a really good year last year. Worry about fixing those holes from last year first (Hardy and Gross). Get that front 7 back to what it was. We can add the DB's but when team can run on us, its not going to any good on 3rd and 3-5 with our zone D where DB's are 5-7 yards off the WR. Worry about the trenches and getting after the QB. Ask Cam this year how taking hit after hit after hit effects you mentally. Then a nice overhaul to this OL is needed.

So 2015:

QB: Cam, DA

RB: Stewart, Dwill

FB: Tolbert

WR1: KB

WR2: Parker

TE: Olson

LT: Drago (or Flowers)

LG: Tomlinson, Amini

C: Kalil

RG: Turner

RT: Collins

DE: JPP

DT: Star

DT: Short

DE: CJ, Ealy

OLB: TD

MLB: Luke

OLB: Carter

CB: White

FS: Boston

From what I'm seeing Cooper could be going as high as top 5. With that said the browns have a better record than us. Not even going to dive into the dream of getting jpp. But this would all work out on Madden.

1st: dont think Cooper will go top 5 but Will go top 7-10 which is looking like where we will land.

2nd: Yes the Browns have a better record than us and have done  good job fixing some holes.  With the uncertainty of Josh Gordon and holding 2 1st rounders, they really could jump up to grab Cooper.

3: JPP will be tough to get but think everyone had him projected to be less in FA than Hardy.  So we need to dive in that competition to get back to our strength.

Yes would work in madden but also in the real world.

this week, fire the ST coach and replace him with dehaven.

next loss, fire shula and replace him with ramsdell and give him complete control over the offense. then hire an old coach to manage the game, cutting off rivera's balls.

next loss after that, we fire mcdermott and tell rivera that he's next if he can't get the defense back on track.

oh...and gettleman trades for at least one OT. use picks from next years draft (anything after round 2 or 3 is acceptable.

if gettleman doesn't make the team more balanced and at least get cam some more protection and fox the secondary, then he's fired after next year.

results are all that matter.

Trade deadline was weeks ago, Rayz.

-Fire Ron and Shula tomorrow

-Make McDermott or Rodgers the interim

-Let the season play out

-Not sure about what coach I want, but either he or his OC better have a firm grasp of the offensive identity.

-Cut DWill, Cotchery, Decoud, Harper, Cason, Silatolu and Chandler. Keep bell as back up RT. Let hardy walk.

-Get some o-line help in free agency

-Draft some young safeties, receivers and D ends

-Get a return man and some solid special teamers.

Rodgers is an old teammate of Rivera's on his first NFL gig.  he's not interim head coach material.

I'd elevate Jim Skipper before I did Rodgers.

First (and most important) step: Stop listening to anything Ron Rivera says about players or coaches.  He doesn't know what he's talking about.  Maybe just throw out the 'collaborative approach' entirely.

Step Two: Fire Rivera as soon as the offseason starts and find a better coach.

Step Three: Remake the front office and scouting departments with actual football people who have way better qualifications than the ones we have now.  Make sure you get that part done as soon as possible because you'll need time to prep for free agency and the draft.

Step Four: Gut as much of the leftover Hurney contracts as possible.

Step Five: Start remaking the roster.

Its probably already been said numerous times before in this or other threads,

But isnt it possible Gettleman or the organization as a whole possibly and purposely left glaring holes in the O-Line, or otherwise other areas for the express reason to force Cam into lesser position to negotiate extention after what they thought might be/hoped for, a less than stellar season for him?

Always, Dude.

May not always agree with you but you're someone I trust to know what he's talking about.

No.

Could be possible he is sold on many things. Is focused on building his D and simply getting his cap in order to make his real moves.

Could be willing to leave guys in a sink or swim enviroment while that plays out. If they sink....oh well, he will then make moves to build his team from scratch. I think Gettlemen has always had his eye on 2016ish....to build his dream.

In order to stop the wreck I need to look at what resources I have available. (All of these numbers are from overthecap.com, other sites will be slightly different)

If we assume the cap goes to 140m our cap space for 2015 is 13m. This is only for 41 players though. Also we have about 5m we can rollover. I have to set aside about 4m for practice squad and IR. Adding all of this up gives us about 14m to fill 12 roster spots.

Needless to say 14m for 12 spots isn't really going to give us the kind of upgrades all of us are wanting, so now I have to look at what players we can cut to free up cap space.

If we designate CJ a June 1 cut we can save 10m.

If we designate TD a June 1 cut we can save 7.5m.

If we designate Kalil a June 1 cut we can save 5.6m

If we designate Olsen a June 1 cut we can save 5.5m.

If we designate DWill a June 1 cut we can save 2m.

If we designate Stew a June 1 cut we can save 2m.

From what I understand you can only designate 2 players as June 1st cuts.

So if we cut CJ and Dwill we will now have 26m and 14 empty roster spots.

Still not a tremendous about of money so lets see who else we can cut. Remember that cutting a player making 800k doesn't really save you that much because you have to replace him with someone and at the very least that person will be making around 500k so you really don't save much.

We could cut Tolbert and Decoud and save 2.4m and 1.9m respectively.

Now we have 30.3m and 16 empty roster spots.

If we keep all of our draft picks for next year that will give us 7 players at a cost of around 6m if we draft around the 10th spot.

If they all make the team that means we have 24.3m to fill 9 spots.

I almost forgot I need to cut Harper so the Huddle is happy. That frees up 600k. So now we have 24.9m for 10 spots. We can just call it 25m

Looking at our free agents both Bersin and Fozzy are ERFA so I know I can resign them really cheap (around 500k each). At worst they can be quality backups. That leaves us with 24m for 8 spots.

Now I have to look at the players we are losing and also positions I want to upgrade.

Here are some of the players we are losing:

Starting DE - CJ - if we cut him

Starting DE - Hardy - would have been the starter and I don't think we are sold on his replacements yet.

Starting Safety - Harper - if we cut him

Starting Safety - DeCoud - if we cut him

Starting Corner - Cason - ufa

Starting LT - Bell - ufa

Backup DT - Cole - ufa

Backup DT - Edwards - ufa

Backup TE - Dickson - ufa

I would also love to find a PR and/or a deep threat speed receiver.

The position that I feel like is the hardest to find in the draft or cheaply in FA is LT so I would spend money there. We might be able to find a proven player for around 8m.

At this point I am down to 16m and 7 empty roster spots. With needs at both DE spots, both safety spots, and corner I think it is pretty safe to say we are going to have to look for cheap free agents and hope to draft well.

If the cap doesn't go up we would have 9m for 7 empty roster spots. And people wonder why we didn't resign some of the people we lost last year.

As far as the coaches go it sure seems like there is some change that needs to happen. Personally I would go with an offensive minded coach with a proven record of developing quarterbacks.

At some point this franchise has to decide if they are going to heavily invest in Cam. A new coach and improved line might give us a better idea if Cam is going to be worth the 20m he is going to expect. I hope he is.

Whatever we decide with Cam could potentially shape this franchise for the next 10 years.

Al I can say Is I am glad none of you are the GM.  What bonehead ideas some of those suggestions are.  You know who you are.

What bonehead things would I do.  I would go back to 2013 as a blueprint.  I would sign Hardy long term with clauses for playing time and good behavior and not going off the deep end.  I would bring in a shut down corner and a dominant safety who can play run and pass.  And i would sign some receivers and fixin the O line would be my first second and third priority.  I would find a good return/ receiver like Justin Hardy.

Truth is I would have a winning record with the same coaches as this year.

If I could find a great OC that actually wanted to be here I would be playoff bound.
