We have no offense. No defense. No special teams. This is Gettleman's fault and he should be fired.

Huh? That's usually how it happens around the league, the Panthers with Fox then Rivera then Hurney then Gettleman are the exception.

Not exactly.  You never really see the GM fired and the HC stay (like what happened here) but the HC being fired and the GM staying is pretty common.

Gettleman will stick around.  Rivera is gone.

Actually it doesn't generally happen in the same year.

If both wind up being fired, it's usually within a year or teo, but not the same offseason.

Do both and you wind up behind the 8 ball because GMs generally hire the head coaches.

I do think he's made some bad decisions, though, with the 'collaborative approach' probably being the biggest one.

I get the whole 'not wanting to come in and fire everybody' thing, but the truth is he left a lot of people in place that should have been given their walking papers.

And the sad truth is that Rivera is one of them.

I agree he's made some bad decisions, absolutely. I'm a big time critic of his approach on the o-line, and the fact is we currently have 13 million unused cap space for 2014 that will go to waste instead of addressing that problem.

But calling for him to be fired at this point after he has clearly stated that his entire approach is going to take 3 years to bear fruit, that's silliness.

What the fug is a "draft pick resource"? A...draft pick? I don't understand this first sentence at all.

Not expecting you to, the last 4 years of draft picks makes up the teams cheap drafted talent. The other side to building a roster would be free agents added using cap space as a resource. Those are the what make up an NFL roster and both of those major resources are still dominated by Hurney decisions.

This isn't an excuse, it's a verifiable fact. And really I agree that the limited resources DG has had to work with have not been used in the best way, at least this season, in regard to free agents.

Jets did it too... fired their GM but kept Rex Ryan.  It never seems to work out well for teams.

That happened primarily because Woody Johnson loves Rex Ryan's bravado.

Agreed.

Can't blame him for not foreseeing Hardy pulling a dumbass stunt, though it is fair to say Hardy gave some signs of not being the sharpest knife in the drawer prior to this offseason.

Other than two more garbage time KB TDs, did you see any rookies out there making plays tonight? How about his draft picks from last year, any plays over the past 6 weeks?

Gettleman was a joke this past offsesson but short and star were good picks. Have you forgotten Fua and McClain at nose tackle?

Is it your opinion that GMs deserve at least 3 years no matter how incompetent? Gettleman's decisions this offseason were Matt Millen-esque.
