We Cant Pay Cam $20 Mil

It all boils down to if you think he's elite or not.

If you think he is, you want him paid as much as Cam wants. You think all this mess will straighten out and Cam will lead us to multiple Super Bowls and will go down as one of the best QBs of all time.

If you don't think he is, you'd hate to see the FO risk it by paying him whatever he wants. Having to pay someone a lot of money when they aren't producing is what is hurting this team right now: Williams, Stewart, Johnson, etc.

It's nice to have a good QB for once, but don't let that blind you. There is no guarantee Cam will be the superstar he's shown flashes of. Pay him a fair amount. If he indeed becomes elite, you can always redo his contract.

But the, "Pay him whatever he wants! He's playing lousy because of so many other things other than himself. He'll turn it around," crowd is fooling themselves. Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.

If he can be or will be elite. Not if he is elite.

If we think he can become a great QB, pay him. If not then move one

I didn't love picking Cam out of Auburn, but damn, his first few years have been excellent. I praised Cam, saw him as the future, but damn, it's been four years of not knowing which Cam Newton will show up on Sundays. The inconsistency is frustrating, yet, as much as I would love to pay Cam (he deserves it), I just can't imagine him making Cutler money. Cam's been great, brilliant at times. At the beginning of this season, Cam's passes were sharp as ever. Great mechanics, I loved it. Yet again, without fail, Cam transformed back into the hit-or-miss player we have been so accustomed to seeing. Cam was excellent last year, really showed closer skills, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking our offense was anything special. I give 75% of the credit to our D, as our offense was average, just a good clock management team. Don't think we're doomed without him, however, if he accepts a reasonable contract <$20mil/yr, I'll take him back. But that inconsistency is really frustrating to watch.

Damn people are crazy. Yall think Cam knows magic or something. Think he can divide water and stuff. Yall don't know football that's the problem. Cam should get 20m a year, hell he should get more. Boxers get paid more in one night and Cam has taken more hits then them and he's getting raped by his management. He should fail charges. So many fans are ready to blame him and move on. Yall just don't know what y'all asking for. Some people need to read football 101 to find out what go on for every position on every play, who does what and who say what. Then look at the big picture, which isn't just one person. Letting Cam go won't fix any problem. Things will get worse.

I hate the antics too. I have a hard time respecting him as a player, especially a QB. You want pull sharpies out of your socks, that's fine for a receiver but you are the starting QB for a NFL team and it's time to act like it!!! I wish Cam would take a lesson from Russell Wilson and learn to be a bit humble at times. I was waiting to see him run in a touchdown in the 4th quarter tonight, when his team was down by 30+, to see him do a superman pose like a immature jacka**. I know the eight year olds love it but it's disrespectful to the game. It's 4 years now Cam... stop bragging about first downs and get your s*** together.

Sure, in the beginning Cam ran all over defenses but he's now a broken down racehorse who needs the team to carry him. Yes, there have been moments when his line sucks but every QB has to deal with weaknesses, adversities, etc. That is why you stay humble, respect those around you, etc. Start showing thanks and stop trying to take credit for all over your successes.

This team really needs a leader on offense. Steve was it, always firing the troops up in the trenches. Cam isn't it. Steve gave us that fire, that never say never attitude and Cam is the complete opposite and as much as people think teams will line up to throw him $30 million a year at him, I think they are living in a fantasy world. Teams see the potential with Cam and they also see the problems including a lack of maturity, lack of focus, lack of discipline, lack of learning the fundamentals, etc.

So your still on the lack of maturity kick? Cool bro.

He's not 100% and is playing behind a bottom 3 offensive line. You can't judge him based off this bad stretch but his total body of work.

Plus at this rate, I'm not even sure Cam even wants to stay here. The franchise has done little to maximize his talent.

Bottom 3?  You're being generous.

And yall wonder why other fan bases say free cam or they feel bad for him. Yeah a few bashers say it's cams fault but most fans of other teams I've talked to or heard there opinion they say cam has been thrown to the woods without any help. I'm to the point if cam were to walk I wouldn't even blame him. And I'll still be a panther fan but you can't expect one man to turn water into wine battling health all season. But those back woods hick fans don't know common sense. I hope some of yall start reading a book or two. Lmao

I'm not a big darrin gantt fan but he's been saying something recently I agree with. Cam Newton brings the stupid out of people. The original post is a perfect example of this. First franchise quarterback in our history and we want to run him out of town. Hillarious. We cannot afford to pay Charles Johnson 20 million because he isn't worth it. We can afford to pay Cam 21 million if he wants it.

Funny right, it's really sad. But hell what do I know let him walk and start over with a new qb to develop and watch cam flourish somewhere else. Does that sound about right?

Boom!  There it is!  Finally, someone said the right thing.  BS we can't afford Cam.  Drop CJ and change the name on his check.  I'd think 17, or so, would do anyway.  Screw Hardy and his paycheck to.  Keep cheap ass Alexander/Ealy for all I care.  Spend that money on o-line/secondary, and try to find a good #2 WR(draft?).  Would like to see at least a couple of o-linemen with some experience, rather than drafting and praying they're good.  You can keep Cam and still have an above average offense and defense with the right moves.  Watch what that fuger could do with above average.

I really don't get all the Cam hate. It makes no sense to me. I am sure people are a little frustrated from losing but come on. Our you guys watching the same games that I have been watching. That o line is pathetic. The OC is historically bad and our recievers can't get any type of separation. We need to shake up this staff. Let's get an offensive mind coach in there. It's frustrating watching our offense slowly take the field and wait for the staff to send in plays like they are ordering food on a menu. We finally have a franchise QB and this is how he is welcomed? We just seen Sanchez put on a clinic with a great offensive coach. Think about that for a second....

Don't drink the water when going through Fayettville.

We have no OL and no receiver who can get any separation. Every QB in the league would look like poo in this offense.

That could never be the reason. Cams Crap, he is Vick 2.0 and he will never be as good as Andy Dalton.

    • No one is asking him to be Tom Brady. They're just asking him to be as good if not better than Cooper Rush, Jimmy Garoppolo and Carson Wentz. We'd like Young to be better than Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, but we're not even asking for that. No matter how you cut it he's going to be considered a bust for what was given up for him. He should be outpacing Cam Newton, Jake Delhomme and Kerry Collins game for game in their careers. He should at least be challenging the clutch level of Brady, Mahomes, Stafford, Goff, Garoppolo, Burrow, Hurts and Purdy. Remember that's based on the draft capital given up for Young, and not the extremely low bar Young has actually set for himself.
    • Even if you cherry pick Bryce post benching and ignore everything else and project it out over a full season….. there is no statistical  argument Kyler has ever been worse.   I’m no Murray fan as I agree he is more athlete than QB.   And I’m open to Bryce improving and support us continuing to develop him as this point.
    • We need LBs--build the roster from the bottom up.  On offense, we have Coker who has been huge...if you fill your weaknesse without having to use free agent $$$ or draft picks--win win.
