We Cant Pay Cam $20 Mil

You are the number one Cam doubter on this board and I'm sure not many will agree with you.

But I do.

I know. I'm not even trying to be a dick either. I have had these views on Cam every since his 2nd year. I know people hate it, but I am a Panthers fan, not a Cam fan.

Why?

Well, for one, I hate his antics, Celebrating every first down gets a bit much and I have always questioned his leadership skills because I don't think he is a very good leader. Two, he has always been inconsistent dating back to college, and still is. It seems like he never works on his mechanics and I always questioned his work ethic too. That's why I have disliked Cam since his 2nd year and why I think he will never be a QB you can build around.

I hate the antics too. I have a hard time respecting him as a player, especially a QB. You want pull sharpies out of your socks, that's fine for a receiver but you are the starting QB for a NFL team and it's time to act like it!!! I wish Cam would take a lesson from Russell Wilson and learn to be a bit humble at times. I was waiting to see him run in a touchdown in the 4th quarter tonight, when his team was down by 30+, to see him do a superman pose like a immature jacka**. I know the eight year olds love it but it's disrespectful to the game. It's 4 years now Cam... stop bragging about first downs and get your s*** together.

Sure, in the beginning Cam ran all over defenses but he's now a broken down racehorse who needs the team to carry him. Yes, there have been moments when his line sucks but every QB has to deal with weaknesses, adversities, etc. That is why you stay humble, respect those around you, etc. Start showing thanks and stop trying to take credit for all over your successes.

This team really needs a leader on offense. Steve was it, always firing the troops up in the trenches. Cam isn't it. Steve gave us that fire, that never say never attitude and Cam is the complete opposite and as much as people think teams will line up to throw him $30 million a year at him, I think they are living in a fantasy world. Teams see the potential with Cam and they also see the problems including a lack of maturity, lack of focus, lack of discipline, lack of learning the fundamentals, etc.

He's not 100% and is playing behind a bottom 3 offensive line. You can't judge him based off this bad stretch but his total body of work.

Plus at this rate, I'm not even sure Cam even wants to stay here. The franchise has done little to maximize his talent.

It all boils down to if you think he's elite or not.

If you think he is, you want him paid as much as Cam wants. You think all this mess will straighten out and Cam will lead us to multiple Super Bowls and will go down as one of the best QBs of all time.

If you don't think he is, you'd hate to see the FO risk it by paying him whatever he wants. Having to pay someone a lot of money when they aren't producing is what is hurting this team right now: Williams, Stewart, Johnson, etc.

It's nice to have a good QB for once, but don't let that blind you. There is no guarantee Cam will be the superstar he's shown flashes of. Pay him a fair amount. If he indeed becomes elite, you can always redo his contract.

But the, "Pay him whatever he wants! He's playing lousy because of so many other things other than himself. He'll turn it around," crowd is fooling themselves. Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.
