Our Coach Next Year should be Jimbo Fisher

Chip hasn't done poo in this league and Jim inherited the team with the best talent in the league by a longshot.

He took a 4-12 team to the playoffs his first year and is currently on track to make the playoffs again. lmao

Jim also made the NFCCG three straight years and a super bowl appearance after the 49ers hadn't made the playoffs in 9 years. He didn't win it on talent alone. Scheme and coaching is 50 million times more important than talent. Otherwise the Patriots would be picking top 10 in the NFL draft each season, the early 2000s redskins would be a dynasty, and the buccaneers would be running away with the division.

You guys need to stop being Panthers PR reps for free. I know you tricked yourselves into thinking limp dick defensive ground-n-pound footbawww is the only way to play, but that really isn't the case. College Coaches are successfully making the transition to the NFL and it's something that the Panthers shouldn't ignore once the riverboat finally settles at the bottom of marianas trench.

Monday Night, you will see.

Oh no, I don't want to hear all that now. All I heard in the offseason was how Gettlemagic was a genius, and how we had the best depth, and how Cam was a top 10 QB, and how we had one of the deepest RB group, and how our current receivers were going to be better than last years, and how we had the best LB core in the league, etc.etc.etc.etc.

Truth is, coaching has been our biggest problem for 4 years now. Not having our team prepared for a game (especially after a bye), not making adjustments, getting off to slow starts, not knowing the situation, horrible playcalling, etc. Come on man, that excuse is weak. How is it that the Rams are competing harder than we are with lesser talent, injuries to star players, and a freaking undrafted QB? Keep on thinking that coaching isn't a major issue with this team.

our OL doesn't stink BC of coaching and play calls. They are suppose to be beat every week.

Our "talent" is exaggerated. We have some great talent. Issue is we have virtually NONE at not just a postion but entire sections of our team are void of it

Peyton Manning with our OL and WRs or an average QB with an above average OL and above average WR corp. doesn't matter Peyton is the best.....he would be on IR or sucking balls. Other option would be much better.

I didn't say coaching wasn't an issue. Coaching isn't the issue of why we are getting beat currently. That is a talent issue. We get talent then we can nitpick the coaching.

We could call the perfect play for every scenario.....most wouldn't work. Takes talent.

First off as an fsu fan, you must not watch much fsu ball. With E.J Manuel they ran a lot of read option. Yes the run a lot of pro formations but the read option was strongly in place and your only seeing less of it now because Jameis isn't as good at running it.

That say why would you want to take away one of our most successful running plays? The read option is a powerful weapon for cam. The problem could be in the other moving peices. But I dont thin there is a better read option qb in the league.

But beyond that I think he would be a good fit. Guy grooms qbs and knows his stuff.

I do worry he likes to take control of the offense to much and call. His own plays which he isn't that great at.

Yeah it looks like you're right about that.  I looked up some of Manuel's highlights, and he definitely ran a few designed run calls and read option.  I also saw the pitch option. (I actually like this play)  I then watched some highlights of Ponder, and the offense went back to more pro formations that Winston is running right now.  So it seems Jimbo plays to the strength of his QB.  I imagine if he did become our HC, our offense would be similar to how Manuel ran it.  I'm not a big fan of the read option for Cam because I feel like it's holding back his progression as a passer.  I would like to see Cam be used more like Winston, and he runs only when things break down.  I don't mind the read option as a limited change of pace play, but not as the main formation.

With that said, we want to talk about Trestman as being a QB whisperer.  Jimbo made JaMarcus Russell the number one overall pick, Christian Ponder a first round pick, and EJ Manuel a first round pick.  These guys absolutely suck. (Well, I'll give Manuel a little bit of a pass.  I think he has skills, but he shouldn't have been a 1st round pick)  Imagine what Fisher could do with a guy that is a good QB.  Imagine what he could do with Cam and this offense.

Fact is Pete Carroll was a NFL HC before going to college for a while and came back to the NFL after having good success with USC. So it ain't like Pete ain't been here before. But Pete has had success in college and pros no doubt. And yes Kelly has decent success so far and Harbaugh was given the keys to a already good football team. Less see how good he is when a lot of those players hit FA or retire in the coming years. Not all HCs from colleges work out in the NFL. Ask the Bucs or Miami. Those 2 teams gave it the old college try and well they failed plain and simple. Whether go with someone with a proven NFL track record for winning in the past. College was is a big gamble and could set this team even further back then it is right now.

Harbaugh was given the keys to an already good football team?  These guys were perennial losers before Harbaugh got a hold of them.  He performed a miracle with Alex Smith, and drafted their best defensive player in Aldon Smith. (Though the dude can't stay out of trouble)  He made Crabtree relevant, and made Vernon Davis relevant.  Harbaugh made the 49ers relevant.

Besides, what current NFL coordinator out there would help this team as our HC?  We have the best DC in the NFL as our HC right now.  So we can eliminate those prospects.  What about the OCs?  Maybe Kyle Shanahan?  Pep Hamilton?  Yet even though these guys have NFL experience, they have only coached one side of the ball.  They don't have the experience of managing a whole team.  Fisher has that against them, and he's had success, great success I might add.  This dude knows his X's and O's, and has plenty of experience in working with young QBs.

Before last season many FSU fans wanted him gone. I agree with the sentiments that an up and coming college coach could be a good idea but Jimbo is no where near as good of coach as Carroll, Kelly, or Harbaugh.

Fans are crazy.  I bet they want him to stay now.  Chip Kelly was more or less a new guy off the block.  He didn't have that much college HC experience before he left for the Eagles.  Jimbo has more experience than him, and won two national championships (one as an OC).  Plus, Fisher is perfect in bowl games as a HC.

A lot of people on here are excited about Gus out of Auburn.  If we can get excited about a guy that runs a depth-less Inspector Gadget offense, I don't understand why we should shun a guy who has won more on the college level, and has a great offense.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
