Madden 2010 - Hints and tricks

Hey guys,

So there are probably a lot of madden players here some better then others, that being said tell us your tricks. (sub packages, favorite play books, 'gimme' plays, etc.)

That being said Ill start it off.

- Im using CAR offence and defense play books right now.

- Screen pass to Smith is either a TD or a loss. But I usually will sub a TE in the slot on his side to block.

- Run, Run and more running with I formations/Full house formations. I've noticed that you can swap WR's and TE's for linemen. In theory this should allow for monster runs, or at least a 4-5 yard average.

- Fullhouse set: I sub out King and put in another FB or linemen. Then before the snap Ill put the far guy in motion to the side Im running. Gives the play away but I can usually get 4+ yards.

- PR's I move a guy on the line deep to help block

- Throw to Dwill a lot, hes faster then most LB's and can break CB's

Questions:

- Any tricks on KR's or PR's. I got burned 2x last night....

- I like to switch it up with a run heave game and to a pass heavy game. What play books are good passing ones. Last year I used NE's for that.

Run n Gun is a great playbook for both a heavy passing game and running. I play with the Panthers, and use that playbook, and it works much better than the standard one. Also, the New England playbook is great.

46 on defense is a beast, as well.

I always use the Run N Gun as well. I'm workin on the wildcat formation right now and i'm tring to figure out the laterals with it. IF I could get that right a nice run from stewart then a pitch to dewill or vise versa. (ITS A GAME)

For defense i've always used the mulitple D.

I've played a couple of games so far and i'm loving the new ways to break tackles. I've hit smith in double or triple coverage a few times and had all of em try to gang tackle him and he just breaks through. :drool5:

I only play with the panthers. I use multiple D and panthers O playbooks. Multiple D will allow you to utilize the LBs we have and you will be able to move Peppers and Brown around better than CAR 4-3.

On offense corner routes destroy Cover 2, Cover 3, and Cover 4, but you will not always be able to get it off.

READING the defense is huge. If one safety creeps up that means its cover 3, so you should be able to hit a corner route if you audible to it.

In Cover 2, from what I have seen the safety's stay put, 1 LB creeps up. In cover 4 the safety's stay put, LBs don't move much, but 1 corner will back up and play off the WR.

Your TE/lineman suggestion doesn't seem to help much. I had the same idea, it worked well in madden 09, in theory it should work, but usually the DEs will speed past the extra tackle, so I'm assuming you need the edge TE to lead block on a toss.

I tried wildcat and i subbed Duke Robinson in for Otah at RT, and put Otah at TE next to Duke. Hasn't quite worked yet but I'm still hopeful. It looks like this.

Gross Wharton Kalil Vincent Robinson Otah King

Hoover

Williams

thanks for the advice, ill look into that tonight

You might want to try this as well.

Just got an insane pass rush in a 3-4 setup in the multi D playbook.

Looks like this

LB E. Brown......J. Anderson........J. Beason.................Tyler Brayton

DL ............J. Peppers.......Kemoatu.......Charles Johnson

I used that cover 2 spy play with the edge blitz, have Kemo rush the passer instead of spy. You can also try Hilee Taylor instead of Tyler Brayton. Taylor is much faster but Brayton shed's the blocks much better.

The reason I use Kemo instead of Lewis is because Kemo is a better safeguard against the draw play, but you may get a better rush with Lewis at NT.

I play with tweaked All-Madden sliders and 10 min quarters with 15 acc clock.

Panthers default O and D

Offense:

Ace Doubles the HB stretch

Slide the TE to the left where the slot reciever is. Audible left and go, if the WR's hold there blocks and you're good on the stick and beat the safety you can go long.

Ace Y-Trips WR Screen

This shouldn't work as much as it does but if you need a first down or get luckly a TD this the play to use. However out of five tries you have the possibility to have five losses. It depends soley on if the lineman can make there blocks. The defensive package doesn't seem to affect it at all. Hike the ball and wait until Smitty runs around the slot (you'll see it) hit him and sprint.

4-3 Base LOLB Blitz

I like to do this with a DE swap so it's Peppers working with Davis. Take Davis and send him through the hole Pep makes, if somehow the OT likes you better than Pep don't worry then he'll cause havoc. Works better if you slide the line to that side as well.

46 Safety Blitz

You have to make it back there with Harris if you don't the CB's are in trouble. A better run defense than pass but I love picking it when I got them backed up inside the 10.

For Kickoff tackling you have to pick someone and make it happen on your own. The right stick is used to break blocks and it doesn't hurt to zig zag some. Make it back to the returner and don't use the hit stick get a basic tackle. Hit stick and miss and he might make you pay.

For Kick Returns grab Dan Connor who lines up in the middle of the KR. After the kick animation switches to the standard camera sprint him the side that the ball is kicked, you can either block somebody quickly or just bring him to that side and let AI do the rest.

    • FLASHBACK: I remember back when ESPN was just starting--he was their anchor.  They used to show stuff like Rodeo and field hockey--I remember laughing when he went to a commercial mocking a cycling competition in Utah (or something similar--I made that up) and I laughed.  I told my dad, "We may have us a new anchor when we get back from commercial."  When they came back from commercial, Berman was looking very serious and he said, "Any comments by me do not reflect the views of ESPN....The men and women who cycle are dedicated athletes and we are honored to shine light on their sport." (Paraphrasing).  Dad laughed hysterically. My first memory of him--and that was like 1980.
    • Might not have a team without them. Although that probably applies to the Panthers, too.
    • Aho likes to score vs the Rags. Going with him.
