Anyone need a job? NC people only...

If wages go up and nothing else does than sure that's great. However, if you think that would be the case you aren't living in reality. No one is going to let that eat into their bottom line. Costs will go up on EVERYTHING. So it's the same problem at a different number. Raise min wage to 100 bucks an hour if you think that will make people "feel" better but it changes nothing. The poor will still be poor they will have more paper in their hands but it will be worth less. I don't understand why that's a difficult thing to grasp.

if you notice, there is one name that appears four times in the top 10. I think walmart, for example, can afford a little wiggle room regarding employee pay.

some businesses may fail, and the ones who do are already in bad shape. the resulting "price increase" is make-believe. look at costco's business model: pay employees well, still better returns than walmart.

The back of that cat looks similar to one of mine. He is a snowshoe siamese - blue eyes.

He just showed up. We got him to the vet, checked it, vaccinated, chipped, and neutered. I'm calling him Sir Purr.

He was born out in the streets but uses a litter box like any normal cat. He likes to stand on my shoulders when I'm typing up emails and yells at everyone who walks past

Costco's is a model and a choice and not a forced model. Could Wal-Mart absorb that cost and still be profitable? Absolutely, however I'd it's a forced move the guys at the top aren't just going to be cool with making less money when their labor cost just DOUBLED.

Work from home but NC only? Sounds confusing

actually NC is the closest state. I wrote it as NC due to the majority of people here. nevertheless... Arizona, Kentucky, Texas, West Virginia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Do u eco101 bro?

When the price of labor increases, the increased cost of doing business gets passed onto the consumer, unless the producer is a "price taker", Meaning they have a small piece of the total marketshare.

Could you remind us all what happened when Henry Ford doubled the wages of all his workers?

Did the automobile industry crash?

Did Ford Motor Company vanish?

Was the Model T priced out of budget for most people?

e: i know you won't, so here is an excerpt:

The move would cost Walmart $3.2 billion if applied to all workers in the U.S. – which amounts to about 1 percent of the company’s annual sales. Even if Walmart passed the entire cost of the wage increase on to consumers, we estimate shoppers would pay about $12.50 more per year, or 46 cents per shopping trip--less than the cost of a pack of Tic Tacs at the check-out stand.

Just wanted to say very nice of you to post it here.  Sounds like it would be a very good position for some people.

just trying to help someone out bro.... realistically its no way everyone on this board is employed and even if so many spouses are not. I didn't think this thread would have taken this type of turn as I posted it and am now just getting back to it. several people pm'ed me so hopefully all will be well for them. considering working solo at home, no gas, no dining out, no clothes, no attitudes, drama, no competition, no stress, and a simple job that just requires you to help people mainly with tracking issues, many more should jump on it too. Super easy and legit with a successful company! Also there is a referral bonus of $250. but I guess in the eyes on some this isn't  a "real job." smh personally "real jobs" are why many are worn down even in their bodies and stressed out and hoping a 7 day vacation will restore them. smh. This is a blessing for others who know how to manage life and work.

We aren't just talking about Wal-Mart though. We are talking across the board. We are also talking about 12 bucks an hour increasing to twenty, twenty and hour to forty and so on. I make more than fifteen dollars an hour you don't think if this takes place that I'm not demanding a raise? If this takes place and you make more than minimum wage you aren't asking for a raise???

I keep mentioning Wal-Mart simply because they are the biggest culprit. They shamelessly tell their employees to seek government aid instead of higher wages. They are also the biggest example showing that higher labor costs = higher prices is a myth.

I know the same scenario doesn't apply to every business. Many poor performing businesses will probably fail if they have to increase labor costs.

IMO, fighting to keep wages low shows that you only look at short term effects rather than long term growth. I mentioned Henry Ford to another poster because Ford once doubled the salaries of his workers, then called it the best cost-cutting measure he ever made.

Minimum wage laws deal with minimum wage; not with other salaries. If the minimum wage goes to higher than what you currently make, your wages will be adjusted. If your employer does not see fit to adjust accordingly then you are very free to seek other employment. Your employer will deal with the cost of finding and training your replacement, then that person's replacement, and so on until your employer figures out that paying more lowers cost in the long run.

I would love to get in on this conversation but maybe we should split it off into another thread? As were just bumping cbully's thread for nothing.

Who was Ford really competing with in the car market at the time though? You can't really compare the past to now. A raise in wage would be a good thing for some companies, but a forced major increase in min wage doesn't accomplish that.

    • Richard Sherman got dog piled for basically saying he didn't stand out as a WR prospect but looked elite as a CB prospect. A few months ago you could find other players commenting on his limited route tree and raw route running but the search algorithms are flooded with love affair right now. The guy is the best CB prospect in years and he'll contribute on offense too. That is the absolute opposite of a knock on the guy. It's just the people buying into him being a full time two way player in the NFL like he was at Colorado who gets their panties in a wad over just stating the simple reality that he ain't gonna be a full time two way player at the NFL level with 17 games seasons and no Travis Hunter fan should want that either if you want the guy to make it to a second contract.
    • You do know you have to be invited to College GameDay? They called him out there and asked him about it and he answered it. And do you think he would have this type of interactions with a coach he doesn't have that type of relationship with? You're reaching to the furthest extent lol. I've seen a video of Hunter literally getting cursed out by Shedeur by not catching a BAD pass from Sanders and he didn't say anything just went out and caught a TD pass the next play! A "diva" would've got into a shouting match with his QB
    • WHAT?!?!?!?! Honestly for the life of me, I can't figure out what you're saying here.  How are you saying their supporting casts cancel each other out and Hunter STILL had the better season? The supporting cast is LITERALLY the reason that he had the better season statistically.  If you put T-Mac on Colorado in place of Hunter, I'm 100% convinced he'd have had better stats than Hunter did, as he already had almost the same number of catches, and more yards, with a significantly worse QB and with zero other offensive weapons to take any attention away from him like Hunter had. If you think Hunter having 7 more TDs is more because of Hunter vs T-Mac and not because Hunter's QB had literally DOUBLE the number of TD's this year than T-Mac's QB, then I have some Arizona oceanfront property to sell you.
