Anyone need a job? NC people only...

Amazing your mind immediately thinks it's a threat but you learned it from Fox News.

You're probably right I'm just a weak infantry Marine that's dumb as a box of rocks. It's why I went to that diploma mill known as the Colorado School of Mines.

Take it to the Tinderbox. It was a simple request but you can't handle it. Don't you have a company to run?

Panthro and I were giving each other a little ribbing...and you felt the need to interject.

Don't like it...don't read it.

I managed a call center at IBM in the 90s. Entry level IT people made 10 bucks an hour, amazing that now its open to just anyone.

Sounds like a third party vendor bid very low for the business and Amazon bit. I doubt the person would be an Amazon employee. Probably a 3rd party vendor that bills the person out to Amazon at around 14 an hour and pays 10.

You are prob 100% correct.

Many big companies are outsourcing their call centers. Just be glad it is in NC and not outsourced to India.

No one hires veterans its all a fuging lie ive been trying for a year no call backs. Ive given up hope on pretty much everything,

I learned the hard way too... you've really gotta downplay the "military" aspect of your resume and really build up the experience relevant to whatever position you're trying to get

For $20k a year you can live in a house with 4 roommates, take the bus to/from work, and never go out on the weekends. You're probably eating budget food and living paycheck to paycheck. That's no way to live and it's wrong. Minimum wage in the US should be $15 an hour.

Do you know what a $15 minimum wage would do?? Your dollar menu at mcdonalds will triple to 3, your gasoline prices will skyrocket, General prices of nearly all consumer goods will increase as well.

Minimum wage jobs were intended to be a "stepping-stone" not a corner stone of a family.

Don't waste your breath you're belittling them because they can't or won't understand this concept.

Depends on what you are applying for.  My first job after getting out of the military was information security in a bank and they hired me because of my military experience.   And a good 30-40% of my coworkers were ex-military, most of them hired in the field as soon as they left.  It all depends on what you did while in the military.

I know of an opportunity to  work at home essentially doing "pure" customer service: answering questions about orders already placed by customers. There is no sales involved just simply looking at your pc screen to help the customer. This job requires that you have a pc with dual monitors, a webcam in which is used for hr photo id, a phone line such as cable/landline no magicjack/vontage, and high speed internet with a speed of a minimum of 5mbps download. The company will supply you with a headset/phone. Also you will have to go to a specific vendor to complete a I-94 form. The vendor appear to be in major cities only. This is ideal for stay at home people or someone out of work. They pay is $10 hour and 40 hours a week. BTW this is for Amazon and a awesome opportunity to work seasonal from the house  for the next few months. The job can last up to 6 months or even potentially become permanent. pm me if you're interested in applying. I will send you the info.

God bless

Just wanted to say very nice of you to post it here.  Sounds like it would be a very good position for some people.

I may be mistaken, but didn't I see you mentioning that you got out of the Navy in the 1980s?

Information Security has evolved exponentially in just the last several years; one probably couldn't recognize the difference between the 1980s and today. Unless one is current on his civilian certifications, military experience generally doesn't count. That's why veterans get the GI Bill - to help one's education match one's experience.

Also, those of us who have separated during the recent rounds of wars get a good bit of negative publicity. The stigma is we're overwhelmed by PTSD and couldn't possibly work in a stressful environment unless everyone is willing to be victims of a mass shooting.

He's right though, not sure if it's tax reasons or other reasons but previously Amazon didn't have a real presense here in NC and I knew someone working for them in NOC stuff, he had to move to VA because he couldn't wfh from here.  Now I think Amazon has a warehouse here which is why they are probably open to it.

Although this could also be a company different than Amazon, probably a staff management company, so probably same reasons or something.

i'm pretty sure the warehouse is in greenville, sc.

could be wrong though.
