Anyone need a job? NC people only...

I feel sorry for the young folks today with their very low expectations.  Hell I started out on a job fresh out of the navy close to 30 years ago making $ 12 hourly  plus some nice perks.  And I didnt need high speed internet access nor dress clothes,  though I did need a car to drive to work.  It wasnt great money even then though I was happy to get it.  How far does $20,000 a year go these days?

For $20k a year you can live in a house with 4 roommates, take the bus to/from work, and never go out on the weekends.  You're probably eating budget food and living paycheck to paycheck.  That's no way to live and it's wrong.  Minimum wage in the US should be $15 an hour.

That makes no sense.

Why not?

It wouldn't be the first time Ive encountered a company that found creative reasons not to hire folks out of other states and most of them cited the overhead of managing that.

Maybe they were making poo up and just didn't like people from Va but I heard it 4 to 7 times back when I was doing software consulting through the state.

But hell, like I said, maybe they were just making poo up.

You would issue a W2 for NC and let the employee do the filing.

Yeah that makes sense.  I was just offering up my anecdotal experience as some possible insight, but I'm going to lean towards "other reasons" as to why those business owners I spoke of wouldn't hire out of state.
