Count me in among those who hated like hell the idea of using $13.1M in cap space when we were already dealing with limited space for a 1 year rental of Hardy. If we were using it to continue negotiations then fine, but it always seemed like it was going to be nothing more than a 1 year rental and that was dumb.

Honestly if they dont resign Hardy I have lost all hope for this Org. Smith has done twice what Hardy has and was given millions. Dude makes us better and just got caught up in a JR dumb fug move because of his unyielding love for the NFL. Exactly.  I'm as big a Hardy fan as anyone but if there were no plans to sign him long term, investing $13mil for one year was a negligent waste of our cap space that could have been used to sign someone like Veldeheer or Collins and some other FA to actually field an NFL offensive line.  One year deals are for bringing in players with something to prove, not for guys that are already on your team and one of the best players in the league at his position.
