Is Cam Newton the next Jay Cutler?

I believe he means fall apart physically, like Vick, who can't stay healthy anymore.

And sadly, he has a point.

Granted, Newton is definitely tougher than Vick ever was, but it's easy to tell from recent games that the beating he's taken is wearing him down.

At this point, I'm way more worried about Newton becoming another David Carr than another Jay Cutler.

David Carr?

What the fug is wrong with you people?

I'm sorry but if you see Newtons pocket you understand why his throws are off. Let's play the game of spot the clean pocket.

yea but it doesnt take a great QB to play great in a clean pocket every play. look at Foles last year.

what i dont quite understand here is that the unconditional Newton defenders will tell us he deserves huge money but also needs a great running game, a great line and more weapons to be given a real chance to succeed. my feeling is someone who is supposed to get that type of money should be able to do more with less. what i saw in the new orleans game, by far his worse game, was solid protection, decent pockets and terrible throws and some drops. that was three quarters of the game. in the fourth quarter, the wheels fell off they just pinned their ears back and bull rushed our line.

i would like to see him with another OC before we dedicate the fortress to him, which i do support by the way.

You're right! Rivers has had 3 bad games in a row.

Last 3: 6 int's, 1 fumble lost and 3 losses.

Yeah Cam's numbers aren't pretty either but you act as if no QB has ever had a rough 3 game stretch.

Please educate yourself before calling others idiots.

Where did I say no other QB has had a bad three game stretch. Literally the only thing I'm saying is that Cam's bad stretch has been 3 games, not 1. Get your head out of your ass

Shell shocked, not weak armed, bad decision maker.

He is worried about Cam taking too many hits, and never living up to his potential because of footsteps in the back of his head.

How many probowls has David Carr been to?

Cam has already proven he is a quarterback that can lead his team to a division crown and the playoffs.

I swear some people are just fugging slow.

it retrospect, some could reasonably argue that the defense lead the team to the division crown and Cam was merely a game manager who made some crunch time plays. to say he lead the team last year is kinda generous. i'm not saying he wasnt/isnt a leader, but most people outside of this place would say we rode the defense's coat tails last year.

the fact you missed his point could mean you are just fugging slow.

Not what he's saying, but I don't think that you are going to get what he is saying.

Many QB's, when they start racking up tons of hits start getting really jittery.  Scot was saying that he hopes that never happens to Cam, worth noting that Scot has been saying that for a while, and it has more to do with the way we use Cam than his skill set.

We had quite a few lucky bounces last year go our way that had not in previous years, that is a pretty big factor.

Game managers do not march their offense down the field for a score to take the lead late in the game as often as Newton did last year. Hell, Newton was doing that in 2011 and 2012 too, the defense just couldn't hold leads, which is what we're back to again this year.

We've had so many blowouts in such a short span because we have poured so many resources into our defense while hoping that UDFA's will protect our franchise quarterback, and it isn't working. To first assess whether Newton is the problem, we need to build around him. We haven't.

    • Fair enough. I never once said not supporting Tepper makes you a bad fan by the way. I can't stand the guy myself. You on the other hand don't like anything about the team. You can't stand the owner or the coach because his religion doesn't fall in line with how you feel it should so I'm curious why you are even a fan at this point? Hell, you like nothing about the team, why even be a fan these days?  We can go backs and forth about how many games we have been to and measure dicks if you want or but it doesn't matter. I've been to my fair share over the years. Some as a fan and some work related but I bet you have been to more due to my weekends being filled with some work I do at the collegiate level so I probably only average maybe 2-3 games per year tops. You have me beat there im sure. You are probably very correct on us not being the same in anything at all I am quite sure of that. If I'm a "mark" (as you put it) for not liking Tepper and not caring about Canales religion or his political beliefs or letting it have weight on whether or not I like the team then call me a "mark" but you're still a whiny bitch either way.  When you hate everything about leadership from their personalities to their religious beliefs all the way to who they vote for at that point why even be a fan? I can side with you judging by your beliefs that you have made apparent, if you owned and coached the team, I sure as hell would find a new one to support but as you said we are different. Enjoy Norway, it is a beautiful country. Visited last year myself and absolutely loved it.
    • The playing well part, depends on what happens going forward. It could have been a tease that will dig our hole deeper.  In the small picture of one game, probably his best game. Green Bay wasn't as great as people think it was. More like one good quarter. Followed by two games of exactly nothing.
    • Oh, it was handled horrifically.  Ego got in the way of a plan.  I'm just saying, that he actually probably stumbled into the better outcome/plan.
