Is Cam Newton the next Jay Cutler?

You forget the NFC championship game against Green Bay a few years ago?

I see your point, but that was 4 years ago and as much as I hate Cutler he pushed on and pretty sure he regained his "toughness" badge from his teammates.

The point of the thread/link was shock value because of how much I truly hate Cutler.  My worst nightmare involves losing Cam and Gettleman signing Cutler in 2016 from the trash heap.

But just because I'm a huge fan of Cam Newton doesn't mean I can't see he is at a crossroads right now.

Jay Cutler is not a bad QB, just one of those guys who has to have a perfect team for you to win. I wouldn't sign such a QB to big money. Look at Matt Ryan in ATL, they gave him that much money and he could only manage 4 wins.

For Cam, it's year 4, it's either coming together or it's not. I thought it was coming together the first three games of the season and then things suddenly are falling apart. I am positive he can get it together otherwise you can't afford to pay him that much.

Regarding buffalobill being a troll, I just don't see it.

The huddle has a long history of one or two closet panther fans hiding behind the logo's of other teams and posting.

Dimbee/Bears, JohnnyRockets/Giants (or was it iggles?), that seattle lunk, etc., etc..

Some fans just need more time.

Buffalo bill is ok - he has sent me links so I have been able to see us play.   He isnt a troll.

I'll take a minute to post the same thing, more or less, I've posted before.

If you live in an area long enough and enjoy sports you just can't help but to follow the local team a little.  I love football and now living here in NC they're not a hard team to come across.  I have lived several places and always followed the local teams but even then I followed the Panthers a little bit.  Look at the organizations history and it is very closely connected to the Buffalo Bills; Reich, Metzalaars, Beebe, Polian and more.  You weren't a Bills fan without loving those guys.

I'll never give up my Bills fan allegiance unless they move.  I follow the Panthers about as closely as I follow the other AFCE teams.  I follow them with caution and maybe a little bit of a grudge some times.  Probably due to the fact that its easier to see mistakes from further back then up close with fan goggles.

I have strong views on many of these players.  Dwan Edwards, for example is someone I hold a lot of value in because he brings it every play and has a lot of heart, real blue collar type player.  I think Olsen is under appreciated in the league and could really benefit from a 2nd TE that is physical and can brutally handle defenders so that two TE sets can be used more effectively.  I can't stand the WR's here and think everyone thinks too highly of them, but KB has a huge upside.

Cam Newton needs a whole space to himself.  Newton has all the talent of the world but he just doesn't seem to have football brain that others do.  If you took Peyton Manning's brain and put it in Newtons body you would have a QB the likes this world has never seen.  I think he has come a long way since his career began but think he needs a lot of work to become the player he could be.  This is not questioning his work ethic just his ability to learn and be coached.  He does not seem coachable to me.  I am hoping that it is just a matter of finding the right coach for him - which is not a knock against Dorsey.  I think Dorsey has done all he can and Newton needs a QB guru type of coach.  I'd love to see Arians work with Newton.

Anyway, I do the very best I can to talk strictly Panthers football.  I do my best to ignore the haters but occasionally like to call them out because its so easy.  Some times Bills talk comes up because I know the team the best and can speak better comparing/contrasting to whats going on up there.  I try to mind my p's and q's but I am not perfect.

Look . I like Cam but let's get real, it's year 4 . He should be close to a finished product by now and he's not. Whether it's coaching or the offense or talent around him etc...This is a legitimate cause for concern.

Exactly. Cam is going to have to step up his game if he expects to be the Panthers franchise QB of the future. I understand a lot of his current problem is lack of talent at WR and OL but a certain amount of the problem rests on his shoulders. He is in his fourth year and is still having the same problems he's had since day one. To realize this does not make one a Cam hater, but someone that can see warning signs they hope are corrected before time runs out. The time clock on this situation is ticking fast ,to think otherwise would be foolish.

..... They have never stuck with playing Cam like a traditional quarterback, which is the problem.....

I agree with this.  Cam looked very good the first four games or so when he was nursing his ankle.  He was looking good in the pocket, etc and it was just we can't wait until he gets some mobility back to escape the rush .... BUT the second he got healthy, and yes; had they great game running against Cincy that dreaded pistol formation was back as the base formation or at least used a lot.

I CANT stand that pistol formation and option cr*p.  Why they want right back to that and wasted the growth & progress Cam made as a pocket passer is beyond me.

You're. A. fuging. Idiot. Three. Bad. Games. In. A. Row. How many times do people have to spell this out for you?

You're right! Rivers has had 3 bad games in a row.

Last 3: 6 int's, 1 fumble lost and 3 losses.

Yeah Cam's numbers aren't pretty either but you act as if no QB has ever had a rough 3 game stretch.

Please educate yourself before calling others idiots.

Where are all these premature judgements after one game for QB's like Phillip Rivers? Or does this only apply to Newton?

Might have something to do with him being drafted #1 not long ago, there's young guys like Kaepernick, Wilson, and Luck who have had more success, been to the playoffs and SB.

Good grief people get emotional about Cam.  It's just a damn comparison by some dude which holds a bit of water.  I don't see the big deal or why people are being called bigots/idiots/whatnot.  The calling out of how bad posters is honestly the most annoying thing for me because it includes no football content.

And I've been reading a lot of threads with the Bills guy and he's clearly not a troll.  He asks for conversation and people just flame him because he critiques our QB sometimes in a bad way.
