Is Cam Newton the next Jay Cutler?

Cam is certainly worthy of some criticism after these last two games, but he's not BAD either.

Clearly you do not understand the rules of an internet message board.  He is either all of the problem or none of the problem.  There are no grey areas and you must either hate Cam Newton or love Cam Newton.

I'll help you work on this.  To determine the answer simply answer this:

Can you say anything negative about Cam Newton?

If so, you hate him.

Yeah well, I've tried to talk some sanity into this place before to no avail...

Look . I like Cam but let's get real, it's year 4 . He should be close to a finished product by now and he's not. Whether it's coaching or the offense or talent around him etc...This is a legitimate cause for concern.

Cam Newton has EXCEEDED the predictions most "experts" made when he was drafted. He might be more of a "finished product" by now if he had a coaching staff with a clue, instead of one that always makes other teams' weaknesses into strengths. They have never stuck with playing Cam like a traditional quarterback, which is the problem. He showed at the beginning of this season that he can do pocket passer well-enough if that's the focus.

Of all the idiocy we've heard, I don't ever recall Newton's toughness as an athlete being questioned.

Cutler was being called out by current players and former players for heading to the bench in arguably the biggest game of his career.

The only area where the two would even remotely compare is that they both have a big arm. That's where it ends. Cutler fighting for extra yards? Newton has twice as many total rushing yards in only 3 and a half seasons as Cutler has had in nearly 10 seasons.

As idiotic as the obligatory and automatic "Mike Vick" comparisons are, this one is even worse.

1. Keep referring to one game

2. Claim Cam's toughness is in question but yet not one post suggested as such

3. Claims of Cutler being a pussy despite no one (literally agreeing)

3b. Disregards physical proof

4. Disagrees and disregards all valid points making a reasonable comparison of Cutler and Cam

5. Compares rushing stats to try and somehow correlate how that is related to fighting for extra yards

6. Brings up Michael Vick

You're an idiot.

Cam also wants to get overpaid like Cutler too. Cam is no where the money he is supposedly going to ask for. If we overpay for him, expect this team to crumble because we won't be able to sign anybody. He can't carry a team and is just too inconsistent to be a franchise QB. NOW, if we pay him in the range of Kaep (which is a pretty team friendly contract) then I'm all for it. But Cam and his agent have already came out and said they aren't willing to do that so that is out of the question. Every year, Cam has finished right in the middle of the pack in every QB category. No matter how you don't want to admit it, he is an average passer, just like Cutler is. I hope I am wrong in the future, but it's year 4 and nothing has changed. HOWEVER, I absolutely do think that getting rid of Shula's sorry ass and actually hiring a real OC would do wonders for Cam.

I don't get the Cam piling on other than to assume its the same moronic half wit observations casual observers have been making about him since he got here.  Sure he had a subpar game against NO but its equally sure he got no help from anybody else on the offensive side of the ball whatsoever.  Otherwise, he's actually played pretty well this season, especially considering the injuries and that the rest of the offense has been nonexistent.

Now if he keeps playing like this the rest of the year then that's possibly a bit different, but all QB's have not so great games so to act like this is some kind of indictment of his whole career is BS, IMO.  Everybodys current hero Ben Roethlisberger has had entire seasons where he looked like ass yet nobody threw him under the bus.
