It's equally amazing how people think an athlete that is one of the best in the world at what he does would rather sit at home and get paid than actually play. Have none of you been around competitive people?

Ever heard of Ricky Williams? There's tons of other examples. It could be argued that Greg himself put forth the "it's all about the money" image.

I don't know if he would rather play or not, but I know this, there's not a lot of incentive for him to subject himself to the media sh!tstorm / risk injury without a long term deal in place when he's getting full pay to stay out of the public.

anybody who watched gettleman's press conference earlier in the year when the topic came up should know this

 

the panthers had no intention of suspending him until the jury trial had delivered a verdict, our GM basically came out and said it.  the league threatened to bust some kneecaps if something wasn't done to rescue their public image from the toilet and voila.

Peterson just plead guilty.  He's expected to be reinstated and play again.  Ray Rice is currently in appeal, he could win, be reinstated and play again.

 

Meanwhile, Hardy, the only player charged with a misdemeanor is out the entire season.

. I agree and in this case if I was a owner I would be pissed to the max. Somebody in the organization should've stood up and nobody didn't. At the end of the day we had a choice and it pretty much took the weight off the league. If I'm Greg Hardy I wouldn't never won't to play in a spineless organization again. It's sad because that's pretty much going to happen and we are going to lose a good player. The league didn't care if he is guilty or not they just wanted the nightmare to go.
